It was a justification for his actions. A "we gotta do what we gotta do" note.
Makes it hard to prove he didn't realize this was a provocative action.

Lock him up with others who are criminally insane.

He knows exactly what he did. He packed a bag, booked a ticket, and boasted. He knew.
He is firmly entrenched and he chose to keep digging, even when it became absurd

5. Our prisons are filled with people with mental illness. All the Qanon folks are nuts
Sun Jan 17, 2021, 07:26 PM
Jan 2021

Anyone that believes that Democrats are pedophiles that drink the blood of babies, JFK Jr is still alive, trump is some kind of super hero that will put an end to the pedophile ring is nuts. However, they are not so far gone that they don't know right from wrong.

Also, we should frame this as these people are terrorists. Plain and simple. They are no different from Middle Eastern extremists that commit acts of terror because of extreme ideologies. What is the difference between these folks and the guy that believes that kidnapping and beheading someone or bombing places is the right thing to do and the God that he serves will be pleased. Or will be rewarded in the afterlife with 70 virgins? Would we say that's nuts? I would. But still say that person belongs in prison. So do these people.

Virtually all studies conclude that the insanity defense is raised in less than 1 percent of felony cases, and is successful in only a fraction of those1.
