From the beginning, my understanding has been that the first person Kyle Rittenhouse shot had simply thrown a plastic bag at him. Recently, I was told that was not true and that the first person he shot had actually thrown water bottle at him and had tried to take his gun from him. After being given this information I watched a video from ABC News that gave a timeline of what happened and had some video of the events leading up to the shootings. From the video it seems that the first guy Rittenhouse shot did throw a plastic bag at him, but the bag may have contained items. I cannot really tell, from the video, whether or not the man tried to take the gun from Rittenhouse. Can anyone tell me whether it has been reported that the first guy shot by Kyle Rittenhouse tried to take his gun from him?

The purpose of this line of inquiry is what exactly? Please help me understand what you are getting at.

(9,350 posts)The point of the inquiry was to gain facts. I am not a supporter of Kyle Rittenhouse, but I would like to know the facts. Someone said something that I did not think was true so I decided to ask others to give me the facts. All I wanted to know was if there was any fact to the idea that the first person shot was trying to take Kyle Rittenhouse's gun from him.

Anyone could easily look that equivalent up on Wikipedia, because everything is footnoted:

(53,925 posts)Rittenhouse's reaction with a deadly weapon was the height of overreaction. He shot the guy with an assault weapon he shouldn't have had.
Now he's out partying and drinking in bars. Another george zimmerman.

(3,282 posts)If Rittenhouse hadn't shown up there with an illegally possessed gun, everyone he killed would be alive and he wouldn't have been in any danger.
Generally you don't have a right to self defense if you instigated the confrontation. He had to business there. The prosecution should argue that Rittenhouse went there specifically looking for a fight and to kill someone.
