I could not have gotten through the last 4 years without all of you! From the nightmare of 2016 election day, where DU got hacked and taken down, and every day in between through today I have found strength here. It's a very well informed and eternally optimistic group here.
We fought the good fight, we kept the faith, now enjoy the prize and celebrate today.
This place is filled with righteous keyboard warriors and local activists. Millions of posts across the internet originated here to fight the disinformation campaign. We volunteered locally, we raised a ton of cash, and we above all believed in the good of this country.
Today is a good day, enjoy it. Tomorrow is a brighter day with more work to do, but today belongs to us!
Than you to everyone!

(7,715 posts)I never would have survived from November 2016 until today without DU. This site is filled with brilliant folks who are totally up to speed on just about everything, from politics to fixing a dishwasher!
This is a place where I get my news almost faster than any other place (cable or internet). And DUers helped me make sense of things I didn't understand, usually instantaneously, and at all hours of the day and night!
And the moderation by the Admins, the hosts, MIRT, and the jury system make it an extremely well-curated site that doesn't descend into madness, hate, or commercial spam. It keeps things on topic and really helps to dig very deep into a subject.
Love ya, DU and DUers! This is OUR incredibly special day!

(23,340 posts)Surrounded as I am by tRumpers, I too have found sanctuary at DU. This progressive-democracy junkie could not have kept sane without the community of DU's fellow progs! We have endured much these past four years, but with hard work, devout faith in our beliefs, and common cause in justice and progress, we have resisted the onslaught of authoritarian fascism that seized our country. And we have overcome. There is still much to do. Many injustices remain, and the ideological virus that has sickened our nation still grips us, just as the biological one does. But I believe that the decency of our people, and our new leaders willdo much to break their grip.
Now back to work! Thanks, DU!

(18 posts)but just signed up recently. I live in Chicago and can remember how the city was in so much pain the day after Trump won. I took the train to work and no one smiled, talked, and heads were low. Women, men, children, people of color, caucasians, old, young, wealthy, poor, etc were devastated. This may be a terrible comparison, but it felt like a prison sentence was handed down to people who care about others. This coming as our hometown hero Obama finished his second term. This feels so much better and I am happy for everyone!

(151 posts)I hope everyone enjoys the moment and revels in the Biden/Harris win and inauguration. Please keep in mind that we need to keep this string of Democrat victories going. Dont relax, volunteer and contribute what you can. Encourage others too. Enjoy the win, share the love.

(9,846 posts)hard as the past 4 years. 2004, the year I lost my husband was hard. My late husband would have been thrilled to have Joe Biden as president. He was a big supporter of Howard Dean and was disappointed at what happened with Dr. Dean's candidacy.
Thank you, DU, all of those who have given their time and talent over the years to help create this space for us to meet. Love to you from the bottom of my heart.

(1,128 posts)When we badly needed a crutch Russian hacking made sure it wasn't there. That was a time of grinding demoralization which DU did much to soothe when it came on again.
