Ron DeSantis... Vindictive little prick!

He was enraged because we shut down the Keys early to avoid Covid in our small islands. Now he allows us to get appointments for vaccinations in TWO grocery stores in the entire county... starting at 6 a.m. and full by 7.

And of course allowing tourists and snowbirds to wait online as locals who have to be at work can’t wait in the queue to register.

Special place in hell for this monster.

His duty is to serve the people, yet he refuses and instead deliberately oppresses and abuses. In your area another chance to act out. Sounds like he's been forced to offer appointments after making elderly people wait standing in lines outside for hours, but he can still arrange to keep them from working properly.

Oh, yes. We need to turn our nation over to these fascistic bastards.

I live in Kings Point, Delray Beach, FL, where there are at least 12,000 residents. (Yeah, we're big! But, our houses are real small.)

Every member of this retirement community -- who wanted it -- has been vaccinated.

Our second vax comes within two weeks.

DeSantis has a large base here (at least 50%), and he probably thinks this would be good for his reelection.

I have heard that the Villages (a well-known Trump stronghold) also has been completely vaxxed.

> Special place in hell for this monster.

Although, I am one of the lucky ones, I agree with this statement.

But it’s a thought.

I was a hospice nurse in that area before I retired so I know it well.

The points of my post are:
- how inconsistent it is
- that DeSantis might be guilty of murder
- why was Kings Point vaxxed, but not the wealthier communities all around me?
- that I am very lucky, and feeling a bit guilty about it

When I thought about what might kill me in this life, viruses were not high on my list. For me, global pandemics were the stuff of science fiction.

I wish for you, and for our fellow Floridians, Americans, and all other peoples, the best of luck and health.

DelRay beach where I had live in patients for three years... Dodi and Pat. I got them both out of nursing homes and got her walking eating and shopping and followed him through surgery to remove his cancerous eye and teach him to drive again. Too bad I had to move.

Thanks for the memories. Haven’t thought about them in years. I’m sure they have passed now, but they were nice people.

I remember they lived in a condo next to Dom DiMaggio, Joe’s brother. He was a really nice guy.

and I think some governors do this. I don’t have a problem with certain cases. I will be first to allow someone sicker or older or maybe even needier (head of family) to take my place. But I have a problem with a county of political strongholds getting first dibs. That just smacks of “let them die.”

And the federal government paid for the vaccine. Any American should be able to get it. The real problem, beyond how the trump administration fucked the plan sideways by not having a real plan, is the 30% of Americans, mainly trump cultists, will not get it jeopardizing the health of those who for legit medical reasons can’t take it.

But honorable people can disagree.

That monstrous grocery chain has already given $100K to Ron DeathSentence’s re-election superPAC. Then, surprise surprise, Publix strikes a deal to let the state use their stores as vaccination centers.
When I heard about this last week, I started shopping elsewhere for essentials. Even if it costs more, or is out of my way.

Sun Jan 24, 2021, 10:25 PM

I think this whole thing about waiting for the elderly first is wrong. I work on a construction site with over 400 people that are spreading the virus. I need the vaccine as much as the elderly here in Florida. I have walked into a local Publix grocery with no waiting and been denied a shot because I'm not old enough. That's bullshit. Get the workforce vaccinated first and keep businesses and industry running. It's the labor force that's bringing home the virus to their families, not the retired people sitting around doing nothing.
I'm not insensitive to the fact that the elderly are at a higher risk, but they can afford the time to wait in line. They won't lose any wages like the labor pool will. I see no justification in them getting served first while younger working people are being turned away.
