I wondered if it is due to the Christmas and New Year's celebrations surge tapering off.

2. I would add to that, stop states from making people chase the vaccine.

Require the states to make vaccine available near where people live. The current "system" in Florida favors people who don't work, have computers, Internet access, cell phones and reliable cars to travel from their homes to wherever the vaccine may be available.

So the Covid infection rate is subsiding as expected.
