Arizona Legislature considers changing election laws, fallout from Trump losing Arizona

PHOENIX — It’s officially President Biden's time in office now. But the aftermath of the November 3 election is still playing out in Arizona.

At the State Legislature, lawmakers will soon begin deciding on a number of bills aimed at changing the state’s election law.
Some Republicans call it restoring integrity to the system. Opponents see it as a case of sore losers out to make it harder to vote.

More than 3.2 million people on Arizona’s permanent early voting list either mailed or dropped off a ballot in November. It amounted to 80% of the vote.

“You got proposals that would force people to get their ballots notarized, you got proposals that would purge hundreds of thousands of people from that list,” says Emily Kirkland the Co-Director of ProgressNow Arizona.

This place had no irregularities in 2020, and never does that I've ever heard of.

I'm going to be really pissed if they mess with the system here.

and the "check your papers" mentality then and recently. It was galvanizing. Even if they pass some of these laws/proposals, they are surmountable roadblocks to be overcome with good organization. Stacy, we may need help.

Many forces contributed to turn Az Blue this year. The Native community. The Latino community. The Republican SnowBirds who didn't return to vote due to Covid. Katie Hobbs valiant efforts as SOS both at the state and national levels. Oh, and a whole lot of pissed-off and determined Democratic voters.

The 2020 Az election was 80% of a perfect storm and one that can be replicated. Repug leadership here is grasping. They are a joke as evidenced by the yawns heard around their recent "Censures" of Jeff Flake and Cindy McCain. Jeeeesh...

Thanks for posting. Important for everyone to keep an eye on these people.

As droves abandon the GOP they double down on any kind of nonsense to try to keep competitive.

It is a race to the most insane and nefarious in the GOP.
