I love Franken. Listened to him on the old Air America and was thrilled when he won his Senate Seat. He’s a billion times better than trump, Graham, Cruz, Hawley, Paul, etc.

The republicans wanted him out. The democrats thought the negative publicity was inconvenient. He was calling out the R’s BS and they had a seeded and germinated plant waiting in the wings to publish her bullshit story. The R’s recoiled in horror and clutched their pearls. The fickle Dems responded by getting him to resign. It was a tragic injustice. Franken is outspoken, smart, and awesome. He is someone that threatened the republicans and inconvenienced the current democrats at the time. But the times are a changin’. He wouldn’t have been forced or coerced into resignation had that idiotic photo been published today. It was bullshit then, and it is bullshit now. His roots were in comedy and that brings baggage. But, he also had political wit. And the repubs took his past comedic jests and stowed them away to use when advantageous to them. They knew he would be a threat. They knew he was clever and smarter than them. They just got lucky with timing. The skittishness of the dems at the time played into the repubs hands.

We should be smarter and more clever than that in the future. I would vote for Franken again if I could.

12. Each first day of teaching First Grade I told my students

that life was not fair but in our classroom it would be (then we voted anonymously for which game to play at recess). We voted for all kinds of issues, they owned the whole process. I just witnessed their little civics lessons from my desk. It was the truth and my students would write to me years later or tell their friends that I was cool because I was fair. That was the best compliment.

Last night I actually thought about Al and wondered if Biden could or would hire him for a position in his admin. Then I wondered if Al would even want it after how unfairly he was treated.
