The Capitalization of Blackness in 2020

2020 was the year that the word "Black" became almost universally capitalized when it referred to people. All of a sudden, almost all publications and the media in general began using that new standard for the spelling in print. The Black Lives Matter movement is probably the reason for this change.

I noticed it immediately, because I write for a living. The national style sheet has changed, and for the better.

It is a good thing. A very good thing, indeed.

I assume in a sentence referring to Black voters it would be capitalized, but what about a sentence using white people and black people?
