INBOX: Rudy Giuliani statement re: Dominion's suit filed against him today:
"Dominions defamation lawsuit for $1.3B will allow me to investigate their history, finances, and practices fully and completely. (1/3)

"The amount being asked for is, quite obviously, intended to frighten people of faint heart. It is another act of intimidation by the hate-filled left-wing to wipe out and censor the exercise of free speech, as well as the ability of lawyers to defend their clients vigorously.2/3

As such, we will investigate a countersuit against them for violating these Constitutional rights." - Rudy Giuliani 3/3

(21,578 posts)As if we dont all know this but the first amendment doesnt allow you to manufacture crimes and accuse a company of breaking them to Further an attempt to undermine our elections.
Also, Im pretty sure with all the lawsuits they are filing that Dominion is well aware of the discovery process and not at all worried about it.

(38,562 posts)The RWNJs seem to think that discovery is going to prove all their bogus accusations to be true, but Dominion is on top of this. As the plaintiffs, the burden of proof is theirs. They would skulk away quietly if they didn't have all the proof they need.

(36,444 posts)I may be wrong, but I understood all he had to do was publicly admit Dominion was on the level and he lied, and all the legal shit would have gone away.
Dominion is front loaded with competent lawyers, so Giuliani is walking into a buzz saw.

(7,314 posts)No way they'd do this if they weren't prepared to go to the mat, I think. And the reason it took a while is that their lawyers want to ensure they are completely prepared. At least that's the way I read it.

(25,471 posts)It's usually the first step - ask for a retraction/apology. It doesn't have to be part of a settlement and will head off legal action in many instances.
He clearly refused, so they moved on to a suit.

(32,017 posts)But, from everything that I have seen so far, Rudy is, at best, a mediocre attorney. Dominions claims against him do not give him free reign to conduct a discovery investigation/witch hunt into all of Dominions business practices. I doubt that would hold up. Truth is, Rudys in trouble, and he knows it.
Wonder if his unemployed, Orange buddy in Florida will help him out?

Sure, Rudy.

(3,384 posts)Seriously, any chance they get they say left wing hoping to incriminate based on repetition. SMDH. Sad thing is, we have a populace dumb enough to fall for it.

(2,018 posts)Constitutional rights... ok, loser, Dominion is not the U.S. government.
Also, discovery goes both ways. I suspect they have a lot more money and a lot better lawyers than you do, Rudy. I suspect they'll crack you open like a shell.

We'll see if Rudy matches his words in the media on this when he files a response. I doubt it and/or doubt the court will go along with it.
It is a very useful case as it will illustrate to some Trumpsters (that can get their head around it) Rudy, Trump et al BS'd them

(1,178 posts)This is the "on the record" public front being put on by Rudy. Off the record, he's most likely scrambling to figure out a way to settle, and to attempt to get the documents of that settlement sealed. That's typically what happens in these situations.

(9,670 posts)What will be determinate is what he files in court and how he pleads.
In all those voter fraud cases he filed for Trump, what he said to the public and what he said to the judge were diametrically opposed.
That's because they're more interested in pissing off 70 million people than they are the merits of the case.
They're doing Putin's work, ginning us up for a civil war.
