My Apologies...I Am Just Having A Really Goddamned Hard Time Believing That So Many Of My

Fellow Americans Are Willing To Vote For A No-Tax-Return-Showing, Flip-Flopping (On An Hourly Basis), Job-Shipping, Haircutting, Magic-Underpants-Wearing, Dog-Crating, Daughter-In-Law-Tripping, Bush-Administration-Criminal- Embracing, Pathologically-LYING ASSWIPE like Mitt Romney because the President was a little lackluster in his debate performance. I know that somehow, things will be set right (looking at you, Joe Biden)...and Barack Obama will be our President for four more years. It's the only believable outcome.

On International Blasphemy Day, we meet today to affirm and celebrate the freedom to criticize and disagree with religious doctrines and religious philosophies. I celebrate all of us who are blasphemers, heretics, and in apostasy.

Freedom of personal religious beliefs cannot be secure unless there is also separation of church and state, separation of elected government from unelected claimants to god's personal email address.

We have seen what blasphemy laws have done to us. Women called witches in Salem were killed because of finger-pointing --- witches were said to be not only blasphemous, but satanic--whatever that means. Mary Dyer, a Quaker woman, was publically hanged to death right over here on Boston Common on June 1, 1660. In fact, three members of the Society of Friends were condemned to death and executed by public hanging for their religious beliefs under the legislature of the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1659, 1660 and 1661. Several other Friends lay under sentence of death at Boston in the same period, but had their punishments commuted to that of being whipped out of the colony from town to town.

Unitarians were condemned for denying the Trinity. That is blasphemy, heresy, apostasy all combined.

When I see what some bishops and preachers have done, I confess that I have some sympathies for Satan. Now, I am not in favor of evil, or anti-social acts, but I do sympathize with some sinning.

And for blasphemy, I want you to know that Santa--y'know, Santa Claus---well, Santa is just a rearrangement of the letters in Satan! Christians have been fooled for long.

Heresy and apostasy are religious concepts and have no place in civil government. We always must ask, "Is this the business of government?"

Where would we be as secularists, Humanists, freethinkers, non-believers, atheists if blasphemy and heresy laws were enforced? How can we allow the power of civil government to be used by religious authorities, full of their own self-importance, to criminalize beliefs? Who is to define blasphemy or heresy? Should this power be given to unelected religion-dependent 'authorities' with a self-protecting agenda?

Democracy requires that religious doctrines be separated from good social policies.

We must be free to reject all notions of invisible angels and demons, invisible spirits and gods, invisible cherubims, seraphims, and Beelzebubs.

And notions about "natural law", which is a purely religious invention with no basis in science.

Throughout history, churches have tried to capture the power of civil government to foster their own agendas, and feather their own nests. But no church or religious group should have power over secular government.

Separation of government from religious doctrines is the central unifying principle for all believers and non-believers. I applaud Humanists, Atheists, Secularists, and Liberal Religious people for holding to strict separation of church and state.

The core concept of "secular" means governmental neutrality without favoritism toward believers. Freedom from religious intrusions is essential to a vital democracy and for all secularists.

Blasphemy, heresy, apostasy are purely religious doctrines with no place in a free society.

So, I say unto you, Go thou and blaspheme and sin. Sinning is good for the soul. Blaspheming and heresy are good for the mind.

Republicans are no different. Republicans are getting a lot of help from the rich people, and corporations, so she shouldn't begrudge Democrats from getting nickels and dimes from ordinary middle-class people.

Politics shouldn't be discussed at all at work, but I find that Republicans are exuberant about mentioning it all the time, they don't care where they are, they assume that everyone thinks like they do - backwards.

Dem's (for better or worse) don't slaughter r's over all the stupid shit for which r's slaughter us. R's just keep throwing stuff at Obama (would be the same for Hillary or any other Dem). Enough of it sticks that plenty of people who should vote D just won't...no way, no how.

It's just not acceptable that a Dem is elected to office, especially the presidency. So they constantly attack with bullshit:

Muslim
Kenyan
Socialist
Communist
Rev Wright
Ayers
Acorn
Food stamps
Welfare
He's just not like us
Gas prices
Libya
Healthy eating
Biggest spender/debtor in history
and so on and so forth

These are things that would never be attacks used by Dems agains't r's. We don't try to de-legitamize their presidency(cies). They do that on their own with bullshit wars and crap policies that never work. Finally enough people have enough, and they vote them out. It doesn't work that way the other way around. The right hammers, hammers, hammers, hammers...and they just don't stop. Democrats are not supposed to be president. When they're elected, they have to go. R's don't attack Dems based on ideas. It's all shit. But they'll get some people convinced of #1...some people of #2...some people of all of it.

The GOP can steal this election And we do not need to help them. President Obama has a world of crap slung at him non stop - negative ads, negative feedback, attack after attack. We do not need to pile on with it. I don't care what the polls say right now. I don't care what the debate performance was or wasn't or why. We can't change the past. Re pugs live in the past and always lament going back.

Like it or not we are just as responsible for the sudden down turn in the polls. The complaining and mashing of teeth does have an impact. The in fighting and name calling among us, the presidents supporters, is just what Mitt in corp wants to happen and we have to stop it. We have to turn the momentum. Obama can't do it by himself. Biden can't do it by himself. It is us. It is our energy and enthusiasm that will lure the reluctant voter out. It is our rebuttals on social platforms, in daily interactions and on this board that can and do influence people to vote or to give up.

We have to take responsibility for the slide as much if not more than Obama.

expressed their disappointment enough to get it across to Obama that if he wants us to fight for him he also has to fight for himself.
I, too, was disappointed at his performance last Wednesday. I kept shouting at the TV - "SAY SOMETHING BACK at Romney" to no avail - I kept screaming "Mention the 47%" to no avail. Finally, when it was over, I wasn't surprised to hear most Dems on MSNBC say the same thing, and just like you, I wanted to shout at them, "Don't make it worse" by telling everyone that Obama sucked at the debate. It was even worse, returning to the Political Forums and hearing all the Reps/cons gloating about Romney, ignoring all the Big Whoppers that Romney told, and admiring his shit-eating grin when he was looking at Obama.

I'm hoping that Biden will bring it back. Surely with all his experience and ability to talk on the floor, he won't let wimpy, zombie eyed do-away-with-the-middle-class Ryan outdo him. If he does, we might as well call it a day.

I've been fighting for Obama just like I was before the debate in all the forums, but deep down inside I want to see more positive signs, like the polls turning back toward Obama and unemployment dropping down some more just before Nov 6!

VOTE OBAMA!

I can't believe Americans have become so stupid that they can't see that Romney is just interested in himself. I want to believe that Obama is going to win, then I read about all the "voter registration fraud" uncovered in so many counties in Florida, and now in other states, all the voter suppression the Republicans have tried to establish and it makes me sick. With the race so tight, and all these things that Republicans are doing in their favor, do we really have a chance? I hope so, but I kept hearing the same thing in 2010, and that was a real disappointment, to see us Democrats get beat so badly.

But you are not, you are informed and can generate your own conclusions. Because so many Americans have been manipulated by 'conservatives' — christians , republicans, Fux news, Limbaugh, O'reilly, the wealthy...they are used to it. Just give them a conclusion that is something 'they should believe' in a forceful manner, and it must be true. The goddam problem is, it doesn't matter if it's true, just don't make Americans care! The unempathetic are on a roll, reality means little, caring means nothing, giving your energy and resources, has no meaning, GOVERMENT IS THE ENEMY. So quit getting so excited, just sit back and let the psychopath's take over (GEORGE BUSH RING A BELL?) You have no power, money is what matters and let the best man win! Congratulation to the 'caring', this part of the human psyche is irrelevant, being the manipulator is the only reality, and if you get in the way, well they have ways of dealing with you!
