I stayed up to watch Jon Stewart. Someone explain the opening line.

Why is he saying that Obama's lead was blown, when by two in the afternoon today, there were polls showing that Obama was back to his pre debate numbers?

1. The joke that opened the show was actually about the sentence structure used by Jon and the word "blown" was a then refocused with a double meaning.
2. The show tapes at 4:30 pm NYC time each day. It's not ABC News breaking as it happens.
3. The script for the show trails the previous days news so the writing and editing staff have enough time to pick and assemble the video clips they need to use to showcase the political hypocrisy and lies.
