Fmr Sec of State George Schultz (under Reagan) dies at 100

Breaking: Former Secretary of State George Shultz has died at 100.

In reality, Reagan and Schultz had little to do with the end of the Cold War. That was more the USSR being inherently corrupt (and Gorbachev admitting it) than anything they did.

and said on the tapes that that Shultz didn't get his position in the Nixon Administration "because of his blue eyes."

Another thing I don't get is why would anyone be a part of the Hoover Institution? There is something basically absurd about an institute named after the President who led the US into the Great Depression.

Anyway, RIP Mr. Shultz.

Afghanistan is where empires go to die.

The resistance to the Soviet occupation was set up in the Carter administration.

The massive lying and covering up of the truth could not be hidden from the world. Gorbachev said so himself.

who stayed a moderate-- he pushed a policy of detente with Gorbachev. He was against giving money to the Contra's. Later he supported a carbon tax. Before the last election, he strongly criticized the Trump administration's foreign policy for creating distrust.

He was reported to be a man of principles, he fought in WWII as a marine officer, was considered intelligent and flexible in his approach to government-- the most negative story about him was his role in trying to silence his grandson who worked at Elizabeth Hlme's company Theranos, which he promoted as a board member. He was deeply fooled by Holmes, as were many others.
