an old time defense lawyer came in to the Monday morning trial call and asked if I would consent to an adjournment. I told him it was ok. When the judge asked why, he said a key witness was missing. The judge asked which witness, he said Mr. Green was unavailable. The judge smiled and granted the adjournment without hesitating. I asked the other lawyer who's Mr. Green, he's not on the witness list....he explained the importance of getting paid up front in criminal cases to me. I think you're right about Mr. Green here. Trump had to go halfway through the Yellow Pages (now there's a dated reference) before finding someone to take the case on the cheap.
