The truth will eventually come out and it won't be pretty.

Republicans are already working on their excuse. They always have an excuse. At least, enough of one to convince their devout followers.

They will say that the Democrats rushed thru the trial before all the facts were known. They could have asked for witnesses. They could have pursued other leads but they did not. It's not their fault. It's the Democrats fault that the information did not come out at the trial.

This is their modus operandi.

Democrats will argue that there was too much important and critical work to be done to get bogged down in a long impeachment trial. Anyway, it wouldn't matter because Republicans had already made up their minds.

When the truth comes out, and it will, both sides will blame each other.

So what? The House Managers brought out the facts of Trump's behavior leading up to the insurrection on January 6th. They presented their case to the world and we now know that Trump is a traitor, a criminal and a seditionist.

Republicans were never going to vote to convict him. Never. I had to laugh this morning when McConnell let it be known that he'll vote to acquit. How could ANYONE think that he would vote against Trump? Did anyone seriously believe his head-fake about "keeping an open mind?" For Republicans, the tribe comes before all else.

So, Trump is out of office and that's good. He's facing a complicated near-future with various legal cases and financial issues racing towards him and that's good. Democrats hold the White House, the House of Representatives and the Senate and that's good.

There's a mountain of difficult work to be done and President Biden is on it and that's good. After the Senate vote, it'll be time to start attacking that mountain of work.

Trump is gone and I believe he will fade in relevance over the next couple of years. He's been impeached twice (and that's good) and other Republicans are chomping at the bit to become the leader of the crazies. They've all been exposed by Trump and that should be good for Democrats in 2022.

...there are still some facts that need to be known to the public before the book is closed. Otherwise, they will continue to sing the Big Lie and proclaim that Trump is a victim.

It really doesn't matter what comes out, they will still acquit. Because they put Party and personal power over all else.
