Are you one of several million under a "Boil Order" for your drinking water?
I talked to my Octogenarian folks this morning in N. Texas. They are doing much better. They are under a new boil order for their water supply and my Dad is not sure what to do during or after it ends. A quick DuckDuckGo search on "what to do during and after a boil order" brought up a lot good info. I recommend doing your own search to see if there is specific information that pertains to your area or your circumstances. I thought this "heads up" warning might help somebody out there.
There’s a lot to do both during and specific steps to take after the boil order ends. This post is not intended to cover any of that. It is more to make people aware of potential health hazards when drinking water supplies have been disrupted. The CDC has published guidelines on their website. Boil Water Advisory "If your local health authorities issue a boil water advisory, you should use bottled water or boil tap water because your community’s water is, or could be, contaminated with germs that can make you sick." "Advisories may include information about preparing food, beverages, or ice; dishwashing; and hygiene, such as brushing teeth and bathing. Standard recommendations usually include this advice:" https://www.cdc.gov/healthywater/emergency/drinking/drinking-water-advisories/boil-water-advisory.html (More at Link)

4. Thank you. Thought it might help someone who is already stressed
with too much on their plate.
I spoke to my younger sister this AM who is in N. Texas and surrounded by "Boil Order" municipal water systems. Even though this does not include them, they are boiling anyway, just in case. Is that overkill? Well, it can't hurt. Food for thought! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

3. 3 day no electricity my son finally got power this morning. I asked hot shower? He said boil order.
I told him keep his mouth shut in shower like when in Mexico.... See how that goes. Yes, one thing after another.

5. "Keep your mouth shut". Something I hear way too much and usually ignore...
Hope your son can get back to normal very soon. Friends and relatives I have in Texas are "about worn out" from all this.
From the CDC site: Bathing and showering Be careful not to swallow any water when bathing or showering. Use caution when bathing babies and young children. Consider giving them a sponge bath to reduce the chance of them swallowing water. 7. "Keep your mouth shut" That is exactly what I texted to him. I told him, remember Mexico when you
were 2 yrs old?
He got the pain of it, and it was horrible. I was so mad at my mother in law making me take a trip I didn't want to take with two little ones. |
