This has to be the moment to invest in coronavirus vaccines and treatments against future pandemics

experts warn

The last thing people will want to think about when this pandemic ends is the next one. It's human nature to move on, to want to put coronaviruses, vaccines and disease surveillance behind us. But a growing chorus of researchers says now is the time to get ready for what is sure to come.

Some have begun preliminary efforts to develop antivirals and monoclonal antibodies to prevent serious disease and vaccines that could stop a novel virus in its tracks.

"Either we invest now or we pay a lot more later," said Wayne Koff, chief executive officer of the nonprofit Human Vaccines Project.

Koff, along with Seth Berkley, CEO of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, published an editorial Thursday in the journal Science, calling for a global effort to develop a "universal" vaccine against coronaviruses, the family that includes the virus causing COVID-19.

Don't put the Republicans back in charge then.

an ETF (similiar to a Mutual Fund) in the ARK Family has risen about 150% since last March. However, it maybe oversold now but its made me a lot of money in the last half year. Not a recommendation because again it might be due for a correction and you might be getting in on the Parade a little late

Genomic Revolution
Last but definitely not least, the ARK Genomic Revolution ETF (NYSEMKT:ARKG) has treated its shareholders the best of all ARK Invest funds. A $10,000 investment has grown to $29,330 since February 2020. The fund has grown to more than $12.7 billion in assets under management.

As its name suggests, Genomic Revolution specializes in companies pursuing advances in molecular diagnostics, targeted therapeutics, bioinformatics, and other areas concentrating on studying genetics and genomes. Teladoc is by far the largest holding, but biotechs Pacific Biosciences of California and Twist Bioscience aren't far behind.

Expect volatility on the path to long-term returns
As you can see in the chart above, though, earning these extraordinary returns wasn't easy. All of these funds lost 20% or more during the bear market in March 2020 before bouncing back. Without a disciplined approach, you might've missed out on these gains even if you'd been fortunate enough to invest a year ago.

I lived in an apartment at Venice beach in the late seventies. One of my neighbors was a cancer researcher who told me he thought aging was the degradation of genetic info as cells reproduce. A photocopy of a photocopy loses a little resolution. He believed that aging might be part of our code, because if we don’t die we can’t evolve. Or it might happen because cosmic radiation dings our dna, with error building up over time. He thought that if the degradation of dna accuracy resulted from our human code then some day we will be able to fix it. No more aging. That day is getting closer. Some crspr scientists believe they will be able to cure natural death. He was highly amused when he calculated life span from accidents and murders in LA at that time and found it matched the Bible, about 800 years.
