From what propaganda they use, Putin and trump is my guess. Their past patterns promoting propaganda are the same. Accuse others of what you're doing, claim they're victims. Lie then repeat the lie. Sound familiar? Using wealthy backers to finance it. Then deny , deny , deny any involvement.

(47,419 posts)Being Q is anonymous, there could be others that feed the frenzy as well, but I'd bet it originated with Russia.

(2,367 posts)They're watching some Republic Party members saying the stupidest, childish things. One bets the other he can make up the most idiotic thing possible and he can get a bunch of Republicans to believe and act upon it. That's how the Pizzagate ... Hilary Clinton raping children in the basement of a pizza parlor in Washington thing.... started. Of course before you know it a patriotic, republican guy takes his guns and goes to the pizza parlor and starts shooting. The bet is paid off.
Next the ante is raised and the....Jewish Death Ray from outer space is causing California fires scenario is thought up. No one will buy that, ever. Except, there are 2 believers currently in congress. Another bet paid off.
I'm pretty sure that's Q began and continues..

(47,419 posts)painted similar scenarios. Though we were inclined to picture some Russian trolls making bets on what was the most outlandish story they could post and still be believed by republican voters. I can visualize them challenging one another to come up with something weirder and more outrageous. Lots of laughter and shots of vodka, "I swear Ivan, those Americans will believe anything!"

(3,282 posts)Or Trump.
It's more of a viral marketing campaign than an intelligence operation.
Most likely Ron and Jim Watkins posting as Q in an effort to drive traffic to their stolen website, 8-chan.
Grifters of all kinds have used it for one reason or another, but that is what started it.

You're wrong though.
So there's that.
People who research it and other conspiracy theories.

(3,282 posts)What people think. That's like saying climate change isn't real because some people say it isn't.
Jim Watkins owns a website at the same IP address that the Qanon trip code posts from. Qanon has posted exclusively on Watkins properties since just after the first drops, and for months while 8chan was offline did not post elsewhere until it was up again.

(7,517 posts)I also have been persuaded by the LARP theory, that it was created by someone with game design experience. Now Putin or drumpf could have used someone like that, but your scenario seems more likely. Drumpf could be involved in that someone close to him could know who is doing it and talked the moron in chief to go along by making breadcrumb statements that fit with whatever looney theory Qanon came up with.

(11,261 posts)But I believe Vlad and Trump work hand in hand. But you go with that and the climate denial for fun.

I didn't know about Jim Watkins and his website. That would have been interesting information to know.

(30,613 posts)Yes, the people you mention may be involved, and there may be hundreds of people who pose as "Q" but the funding and the masterminds are TrumPutin.

(83 posts)Putin does not personally type up the conspiracy theories and post them. It frustrates me to no end that this person can not be unmasked. I wish someone would unmask this person. His anonymity gives this person or organization a sense of undeserved deification by his followers that would be removed when they see this organization for who they really are.
