I want to, but cannot, apologize for my antipathy towards the Lincoln Project. I sniffed them out as lying grifters from the start. And it just didn't help that they were predominantly promoted by the factions in our party who are forever attacking progressives. That fact just plain wasn't lost on me. It wasn't lost on anyone. And now, with all of the facts coming to light through objective, reputable journalistic sources, I see no reason to pretend they are welcome in our party as far as I'm personally concerned.
I'm glad they hate Trump and the movement he has spawned. We all hate what is going on with the Right at the moment. I think their motives are not our motives. I think Trump displaced them and ejected them from their pundit gravy train. He made them unneeded. So they latched onto Democrats as their financial escape hatch. All cons need a mark.
But there is no objective evidence they have made a smidgen of concrete difference electorally. Democratic pollsters have found that no one was moved by their ads. No undecideds wandered on over because of them. In fact, Trump got more votes than ever. What they did is preach to an eager social media choir. They told Trump haters what we already believed and wanted to hear. They accepted tens of millions in donations and spent it on themselves, their family and friends, and their associates. They plain didn't help us at all. And this was Democratic polling operations telling us this.
I read more than I post. I've read quite a few of your posts, and I respect you a great deal. If I see an OP by you, I read it. The poster in question read a lot into what I was saying that just plain wasn't there. There are many threads about the golden Trump idol already existent here. I know. I've read them. We do not need the Lincoln Project's opinion on this. We do not need their opinion on anything. They lied and covered up for a disturbed man who is accused of sexual grooming and assault. They knew. Reputable journalists did the research. They uncovered the evidence. They gathered testimony. They should be done. They kept tens of millions of dollars for themselves, used donations to pay personal debts, milked people to settled their finances. This is objective fact that has been thoroughly reported on by reputable journalists.
The LP does not belong in our party. I feel very strongly about this. The poster came after me first. I'll defend myself. I don't wilt at threats - and he did make threats about my "stay" here. Seniority is not a virtue if the principles that accompany it aren't in play. "I'm here longer!" isn't an answer to, "Well, yeah, but I'm right."
Right is right. Longevity has nothing to do with it. I'm sure he's an awesome person. But he took my post out of context, doubled down, and made threats. That's not ok. And I won't back off from that sort of thing. I'm a gay man. I don't care for bullying tactics. People have to try harder to get me to shut up. It wasn't impressive.
This is getting a little out of my fingers. I'll just say. I intended no insult anyone except the Lincoln Project. Given the facts we now know, I firmly believe they have no place in a Democratic space.
