London (CNN)Prince William has denied the royal family is racist in his first public remarks since his brother Prince Harry, and his wife Meghan, made explosive claims in a TV interview.
Asked by a reporter during a visit to a school in east London if the royals were a "racist family," the Duke of Cambridge said, "We're very much not a racist family."
Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, made a series of damning accusations against the royal family in an interview with Oprah Winfrey, which aired in the UK on Monday night.
In response to a question on whether he had spoken to his brother since the interview with Oprah Winfrey, Prince William said, "I haven't spoken to him yet but I will do."

(182,848 posts)Well we are easily in the top 5 of least racist families.
This really has a bit of Trumps least racist person ever to it.

(40,216 posts)Kate also seems to be a real stick in the mud. They have changed and remind me of being throwbacks to a stuffy and aloof royal couple. It is easy to see why Meghan didnt feel good around them and why she couldnt get close to Kate.

(58,676 posts)It's because you have to block that part of your personality from self realization because "everybody knows racism is bad" so they couldn't possibly be that.

But they are most assuredly "racially oblivious."
Systemic racism is insidious, and even affects people who are not consciously racist.
The royals are the most privileged of a privileged class. They certainly are affected by that.
And then there are the flat-out racists.... Phillip.... Princess Michael..... and certainly some others.

(8,747 posts)This is the begining of the end. As soon as granny passes that will it. People will not accept Charles and Camilla on the throne.
And Charles will not abdicate for William.
I could be wrong.

(8,383 posts)have said that nobody wants the job of Monarch. If that were the case, you would think that if and when its Williams turn, hed abolish it and go and live his life. Chances of that happening? Zero.

(8,747 posts)I blame the Queen. She is the boss, she sets the rules. She has a long memory, so did her mother.
They both blamed her uncle for her fathers death. Her uncle became King, he abdicated, then her father became King and he died. Elizabeth became Queen.
Treefrog
(4,170 posts)Queen. Her fathers death can probably be blamed on his chain smoking habit, but the stress caused by the abdication did him no good, Im sure. He stuttered so badly and suddenly had to be making speeches. I cant imagine. Edward and his paramour courted the Nazis, but Elizabeth and her family led the country through WW2, refusing to even evacuate the girls. The Queen Mother would have nothing to do with her family leaving.
