McConnell Says He's Raised More Than Trump

March 11, 2021 at 6:38 am EST By Taegan Goddard 22 Comments

New York Times: “Mr. McConnell said several times that the Senate Leadership Fund, the super PAC that backs the Republicans’ Senate efforts, had out-raised Mr. Trump’s super PAC in 2020 … To underscore his point, the usually taciturn minority leader shared data he had prepared on small cards — headlined ‘Super PAC money raised’ — that he distributed to Republican senators.”

“It showed the totals raised by the Senate Republican super PAC and for the two Georgia Senate races that cost the party its majority. ‘Total: $612+ million.’ ‘In 3 cycles: nearly $1 billion,’ the card said. Below that were the former president’s statistics: ‘Trump: $148+ million,’ referring to America First, the outside group that was formed to support Mr. Trump in 2020.”

Looked around to see the total campaign spending, including local races, and that's a lot of work. Wouldn't be surprised, though, if it approaches the trillion that's "too much" to spend on us lowly citizens.

I did come across a quick mention that last year a Des Moines TV station added an hour to evening news just so it could fit more ads in. And that still wasn't enough-- they had to reject ads!

keep from helping their fellow citizens. They would rather spend those billions giving to political PACs where the money is often headed for individual pockets, than paying that same amount in taxes to support actions to help the entire country. Such greed and corruption is world-wide and is at the very heart of human suffering, conflict and death world-wide.
