49 percent of GOP men say they won't get vaccinated: PBS poll

What the ever lovin .....?!?!

********

Nearly half of U.S. men who identify as Republicans said they have no plans to get the coronavirus vaccine, according to a new PBS NewsHour/NPR/Marist poll released Thursday.

The study, which surveyed 1,227 U.S. adults from March 3 to March 8, found that approximately 30 percent of Americans overall said they do not plan on getting vaccinated.

The poll found a higher amount of opposition among Republicans, with 41 percent saying they would not get one of the three federally approved coronavirus vaccines and 49 percent of Republican men saying the same. Fifty percent of GOP men said they would get the vaccine or had already got it. One percent was unsure.

Comparatively, about 87 percent of Democrats included in the survey said they planned on getting the COVID-19 vaccine or had already received it.

(snip)

Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have reported that Black, Latino and Asian people have been underrepresented among those vaccinated when compared to white populations.

Thursday’s poll also found that among those who want to get vaccinated but have not yet received a dose include 52 percent of Latinos, 48 percent of Black Americans and 43 percent of white Americans.

“These disparities do not correct themselves. There needs to be intentional effort,” Wen said.

Wealthy pubs in Florida love the vaccine.

https://www.sun-sentinel.com/opinion/editorials/fl-op-edit-vaccine-sites-florida-desantis-20210311-iujipjd25bdptpdfov6ec5jrdm-story.html

COVID-19 vaccination sites have popped up in politically important areas across Florida, yet no one claims to have been responsible for them.

Do we believe that it’s just a series of coincidences? Of course not.

It has been three months since vaccines arrived in Florida. Looking at the record, Gov. DeSantis has based vaccine decisions more on politics than science, which tracks with his wider COVID-19 response.

Although unfortunately a lot of these morons have already reproduced. Covid is especially dangerous for older, overweight men - the stereotypical MAGAt - it's just too bad that these nitwits will spread it to others, at least until the others are vaccinated.

If it was only their lives that they were risking, who cares? And your point that they can spread it to others is a big concern, but even bigger is that every time this virus enters a new host there is a chance for it to mutate. And some of those mutations won't be affected by the vaccines we currently have, which puts the entire world back at risk again. As long as anybody's getting it, we'll be forever playing catch-up. As it is, I think we'll be getting Covid-19 booster shots for a long time.

But, as 70yo Libertarians, they are self-affecting and look out for themselves first.

Now that they have it, they boast that they crashed the line and forced their way in when only for first responders.

Still denying it's something to worry about, but getting it to be safe. Yet, they were frantically trying to get the thing for weeks and tried crashing a few sites before finally getting in one.

... that the Covid needles don't even hurt. I just got my first dose the other day and it went so fast, I didn't even know it was over. The nurse put a small bandaid on my arm and said, "Okay you're done!"

I said "What? You didn't even give me the shot yet."

She said "Yes I did, you can go."

It was literally PAINLESS. And the whole thing was over in 5 minutes, start to finish.

I've had flu shots that hurt like MFers, and others that I didn't even feel.

I used to get them at work and learned to avoid one nurse and always get it from the other.

Anyway, I plan to do it as soon as I'm eligible here.

It's like I said from the beginning. Trump failed to lead America in getting average covid results. He lead us into trailing the pack, letting people die, keeping the economy stalled. But because he's Trump, he simply redefined his failure as success. Then he doubled down on his "successful" practices, his very doubling down giving an err of confidence and winning, even as he stood in a pile of bodies.

There's nothing the true Trumpian Republican can do that will result in them questioning their own approach. Their success is unfalsifiable in their own minds, not because it's incapable of rational disproof, but because they admit no mechanism of accepting rational disproof. Not questioning their own approach is rule one of their approach.

The best that can be done is to deprogram some Trumpians and to defeat the rest soundly at the ballot box while we still can.

about 41% of those (both men and women) say they won't get it. So about 12% of the population? Honestly that's a lot lower than I thought it would be. Obviously there are other demographics that will factor into an overall percent who say they won't get it, but among the batshit crazy GOP that's not bad.
