She was a TSGT in the WACS, and he was a corporal in the army. They got married on March 31, 1945. Mom got pregnant with my brother about 20 minutes later, and she was out of the WACS just like that.

That is what they did to my mother.
Didn't matter if the female was enlisted or an officer.
They were thrown out of the service the day of their wedding.

5. Could be. That's not what I remember my mother telling me though.

Sadly, it’s 33 years too late to ask her if my memory is wrong.

So it is all blurry to them possibly. But I remember my mother saying that married women
could not be officers in the Air Force back then and she has to resign her position as of her marriage date.

She was a nurse in a MASH receiving unit in a stateside California hospital. That means she took care of patients who had been treated in the MASH units, like the TV program. The returning guys has so many stories to tell.

And I have had co-workers work well into their pregnancies doing tough, physical work because that's what they either wanted to or had to.
Commercial pilots fly pregnant. In 1982, we had a woman on my ship continue to work in the engine room -she was a welder - until she was 7 1/2 months along - because she just thought she gained weight after getting married the previous year. Wasn't until the kid began kicking that she went to Doc and found out she was pregnant.
So long as there aren't any problems, women can do the jobs they're trained to do.

were doctors, nurses, etc, also computer techs. Some of the nurses and docs were OB/GYN, treating the wives of military men. These people usually don't run into battle. Also my husband was in the military when they stopped kicking women out for marrying and getting pregant. Been retired since 1989. Not all people in the military go to war, in the USAF for example something like 90% are support. My dad was a crew chief on B-52 and also down in a nuclear missle silo and later in communications. Served 20 years.

You were right a lot of people are stupid and stupid about the military.

Nowadays women can serve in combat jobs, but if they are pregnant then they wouldn’t deploy until after the pregnancy and and even more time after that. That ladies comment on as really clueless...ironically an Arizona Republican said only informed and “quality” voters should vote...we know what that was code for so he obviously thinks this dumb lady is informed and “quality” worthy
