For the first time ever, an African American will chair the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) Board of Directors.
Earlier this month, Atlanta business and civic leader Milton H. Jones Jr. was elected to the post, making him the first African American to assume the role at the philanthropic organization, which was founded in 1944, the group confirmed.
Jones will succeed William Stasior Sr., CEO of Booz Allen Hamilton. Stasior previously held the role for 11 years. Past chairs include John D. Rockefeller III; Michael H. Jordan, who served as CEO of PepsiCo's International Food and Beverage Division; and Jack Stahl, the former president and CEO of Revlon.

(440 posts)How is this even possible in 2021?!?
There is so much I don't know and just take for granted. It is just unconscionable how many ways black people are minimalized and treated as second-class citizens.
SMDH.

(13,419 posts)I fault myself for ignorantly assuming that the UNCF Board had previously, if not always, had a Black chair.I never would have believed there had never been a Black chair. Its long overdue for that to be changed so I am glad progress is being made on that front.
That being said, how did a Booz Allen CEO become chair of the UNCF board? The mind reels sometimes.

(182,791 posts)Im guessing the Chair has a lot of fund raising activities so theyve had big standard type CEOs over the years.
