Looks like most of the fascist insurrectionists are getting off with a little slap on the wrist.

According to Politico:

Most Capitol rioters unlikely to serve jail time

Americans outraged by the storming of Capitol Hill are in for a jarring reality check: Many of those who invaded the halls of Congress on Jan. 6 are likely to get little or no jail time.

While public and media attention in recent weeks has been focused on high-profile conspiracy cases against right-wing, paramilitary groups like the Oath Keepers and the Proud Boys, the most urgent decisions for prosecutors involve resolving scores of lower-level cases that have clogged D.C.’s federal district court.

A POLITICO analysis of the Capitol riot-related cases shows that almost a quarter of the more than 230 defendants formally and publicly charged so far face only misdemeanors. Dozens of those arrested are awaiting formal charges, even as new cases are being unsealed nearly every day.

In recent days, judges, prosecutors and defense attorneys have all indicated that they expect few of these “MAGA tourists” to face harsh sentences.

Want to commit a crime with impunity? Want to commit sedition by storming the Capitol with the intention of ending democracy, overthrowing the government, and installing a dictator, in an act of insurrection, and walk away without jail time?

Just become a Trump supporting Right Wing Extremist, and all your sins will be pardoned.

They all had to hire attorneys to get them off. Expensive and probably not factored into their budgets.

About 1/3 of those will be eligible.

But the threat of what they faced will have scared the shit out of most of those.

Where we go one," .... is cute. But when you're in front of the judge by yourself and "we go all" doesn't materialize....

... the buildings walking around as a tour.

Prosecute them still and make them serve community service in an area their lord and savior hates.

But there are nearly 900 investigations going on (still too small) and the rest of the facing felonies is a good thing.

there is obvious widespread destruction and a cop is murdered, 130 cops areinjured on the "tour".

"Hey lookee there Merle Ray, they're beating that police officer to death. Is that Pelosi's office? Dang, she ain't there. Oh Nanceee? Where are you Nanceee? Where's the picture of Robert E. Lee? Ain't they got a picture of our lord and savior President what got the election stole from him yet? I gotta pee real bad, heehee, think I'll do it in one of them uppity (slur deleted) office. Hold my confederate flag for me, willya?"

Police union says 140 officers injured in Capitol riot

The physical toll on officers who defended the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6 attack by a pro-Trump mob is becoming clearer, with reports by police officials and federal prosecutors indicating that about 140 officers were injured, the head of the Capitol Police officers’ union said.

“I have officers who were not issued helmets prior to the attack who have sustained head injuries,” Gus Papathanasiou, union chairman, said in a statement Wednesday. “One officer has two cracked ribs and two smashed spinal discs and another was stabbed with a metal fence stake, to name some of the injuries.”

Capitol Police Officer Brian D. Sicknick died after trying to defend the Capitol from rioters. One Capitol Police officer and one D.C. police officer who were responding on the scene have died by suicide since the attack.

And since Jan. 6, 38 Capitol Police employees have tested positive for the coronavirus, almost entirely officers and supervisors who responded to the riot, Papathanasiou said.

The "tour" from hell. If watching windows get smashed and cops beaten to death, or attempts to beat them to death, or getting sprayed with bear spray, and then walking on in with the crowd who are searching for the Vice President while chanting "Hang Mike Pence!" is simply 'tourists getting caught up in the moment', then these nice tourists will see this as a victory and a validation of their belief that they really did nothing wrong.

At the very least, charge them with a crime that carries a stipulation that makes it illegal for them to own guns.

At least some in government want to bring justice to the MAGAMOB.

Still, going by history, America has let a lot of NAZIs go.

Many were likely charged with misdemeanors as a holding action. More serious charges can get added as evidence is located.

... that is, if they know anyone to snitch on higher up the food chain.

I've read that the FBI is only going after the ones who actually went inside the Capitol building. Most of them were technically felons when they entered the building. The people who hung around outside were also breaking the law, but the Feds probably won't bother with them.
