It's like he's just eating up time. The long and the short of it is, it's on video that Chauvin was still kneeling on George Floyd's neck AFTER he had gone limp, and the paramedics had to tell him to move.
I've no doubt Chauvin was in some sort of 'zone'.

(115,877 posts)have been very sympathetic and genuine. Badgering them in any way would have backfired. I don't think he's an incompetent lawyer but he's not very good at taking whatever useful facts he has and focusing on them.

(13,783 posts)... obligation is to throw as many ideas at the wall as possible in hopes that some stick and hang a jury. Apparently people in the know don't expect the defense arguments to be self consistent.

This is where I see him going after questioning the girl friend.

Handwritten notes of a law enforcement interview with Dr. Andrew Baker, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner, say Floyd had 11 ng/mL of fentanyl in his system.
"If he were found dead at home alone and no other apparent causes, this could be acceptable to call an OD. Deaths have been certified with levels of 3," Baker told investigators.
In another new document, Baker said, "That is a fatal level of fentanyl under normal circumstances."
But then Baker added, "I am not saying this killed him."

(1,178 posts)That's sometimes an attorney's trick. One, is to ask the same question, possibly re-wording it some, to see if the witness will answer the question differently. Also, if the trial goes on for awhile, that the jury will come back with a quick verdict. Problem with that strategy, though, is not knowing what the verdict would be.
