They'll streamroll everything with a simple +1 vote and never look back.

bi-partisanship, as if republicans could ever give a shit about bi-partisanship. Sinema might be that naive but I think Manchin just enjoys being the center of attention and Dems having to plead with him and republicans doing the same thing from the other direction.

Both of them need to just do the right thing for the nation and stop the grandstanding.

They hold out and threaten not to vote for a bill unless some republicans do too, like with the just recently passed covid relief bill. Three fourths of the nation...Democrats, republicans and independents in the polls, wanted that bill passed and not one republican in Congress voted for it so their need for bi-partisanship for is just a hollow gesture because not even one republican voted for it, much less ten needed if the bill was a reconciliation bill.

We have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to bring the United States into the 21st century and he's going to block it, just because he's got political power for the first time in his life. His attitude is not, "What can be done to improve the quality of life for the greatest number of Americans," but rather, "Fuck what the nation needs. I want everyone to pay attention to me." Sort of a mini-T****. If he's appeased on one thing -- keeping the filibuster, for example -- he'll just find something else to force the Dems to bend to his whims, like demanding "bipartisanship" on the infrastructure bill.

When we could only do one or two a year Schumer and Biden could hold the caucus in line to pass that because they knew it was the only chance.
If that process cam be done multiple times I fear that unity will fracture and some dems other than Manchin will start proposing their pet bills instead. Others will say we dont need to get rid of fillibuster after all. Never underestimate our ability to jam our own agenda.
