Very slight tightness in the upper back/shoulders & a slight fever. Like a mild case of flu. Or so I remember, because it's been a long time since I actually had the flu.
Other than that I feel ok & fully functional.
My wife (Pfizer) had an upset stomach for several hours, but has been fine since.
No big deal, but more than the first shot.
Update 8:15 CDT
So, I took acetaminophen at 9 & 3. Checked temp every couple hours. Bounced around between 99.3 & 101.1 all day.
At 5:30 it was 100.5.
At around 7:15, I noticed that flu like feeling in my back and shoulders was almost gone. Checked temperature and it was 98.4. Fell 2.1 degrees in 2 hours.
Feel much better now. Whole thing lasted about 14 hours.

(11,287 posts)Flu like chills for a couple days, slight fever, then I sweat it out. Sleepy too. But hey now you are a survivor so there's that.

(1,477 posts)Yesterday I was feeling fine until the afternoon when I suddenly became very tired. I took a nap and woke up with the flulike symptoms. They persisted until this morning. Now Im just tired with a sore, itchy arm. Im a type 2 diabetic and my blood sugar dropped also, so diabetics make sure you check your blood sugar.

(14,856 posts)... immunological reactions because of a higher dose of vaccine compared to Pfizer, but that's mostly speculation from me.
https://www.statnews.com/2021/02/02/comparing-the-covid-19-vaccines-developed-by-pfizer-moderna-and-johnson-johnson/
----------
Each dose of Pfizers contains 30 micrograms of vaccine. Moderna went with a much larger dose of vaccine, 100 micrograms. It means the company is using a little more than three times as much vaccine per person as Pfizer is. And yet, they arent getting better results. The governments vaccine development program, formerly called Operation Warp Speed, has asked Moderna to test if it could lower the dosage of its vaccine without eroding the vaccines protection.

(43,485 posts)mRNA-1273.351 variant tweaked vax in 19 days from our trial here we are participating in. Other than slightly sore arms that went away within 16 to 20 hours, we felt nothing after the initial vaccination.

(8,206 posts)I started getting chills about ten hours after, and by twelve hours after my fever was 102. Vomited for twelve hours, headache, but the next day I felt almost back to normal. The longest-lasting side effect was that I fell asleep on my side with my glasses on and gave myself a black eye.
But don't let this discourage anyone! I was happy about the side effects because I knew it meant the vaccine was working. I'm only posting this to let people know they might need to take the next day off from work.

(4,999 posts)It is typical for me to react. After Shingrix I had mild flu symptoms for three days.
First dose Moderna really wore me out, two days after the shot I had a severe headache and did not sleep well. Then it was over.
My SO points out, if that's how you react to the shot with just mRNA, imagine what actual COVID19 would do as it keeps replicating and produces more and more invaders in your system.
So I'm anticipating a bad reaction to the 2nd dose, and however I react absolutely delighted to get it!

(237 posts)My typical response to a vaccine is a mild case of whatever it is. I took the vaccine at noon. By bedtime, I had a fever and couldn't sleep. The next day, I felt like the walking dead: severe aches, fever, coughing, and so on. It was well into the next day until I felt completely human.
I had a mild case of COVID in early January. Very mild, based on my reaction to the vaccine. If I'd have gotten a full-bore case, I'd be dead.
I, too, expect a bad reaction to the second dose, but I'm grateful that I'm able to get it.

(13,544 posts)Pfizer shot, and all I had both times was a sore arm. Same with my husband and we got our shots at different places. Hope our immune systems had a strong response since neither of us had side effects other than a sore arm.

(68,643 posts)dizziness, nausea (could have been the dizziness that caused this) and headache...went back to sleep woke up and still had slight headache...took Ibuprofen and felt fine. My sister told me I should have taken Tylenol but I was fine.

(1,528 posts)Was a little tired Friday evening, and Saturday afternoon I really needed to take a nap for several hours.
No other really noticeable effects an pretty much back to normal.
Just glad to be mostly vaccinated, and should be fully covered in a week.

(9,795 posts)and had joint aches that have mostly subsided. Feel crappy at times but nothing noteworthy. Still intend to wear the mask and distance. I may wear the mask in stores next flu season. Didn't get a cold or flu or local illness like other years. Be safe.

(25,965 posts)All I had was a sore arm for two days , and thats all - exactly like the first dose of Moderna vaccine. Hope I made some antibodies.

(658 posts)My wife had a reaction to the 2nd shot. She felt generally ill and had severe chills. My first shot made me feel fatigued for about a week. I'm not looking forward to my reaction to the shot, but I am definitely looking forward to my 2nd shot.
I live in NW Florida in a community that has 70% republican voter registration. There are few in this community wearing masks. Milton, FL. is the community.
I believe I'm going to get 7 shirts made with the caption "I'm vaccinated, so suck it!". One for each day of the week. Not really, but wouldn't it be fun?

(7,376 posts)I had arm-soreness for 2 days, and felt tired the night of. I slept poorly that night, like I had a fever... but surprisingly, no fever, and I felt fine (if a little sleepy) the next day. Then.... nothing. All-in-all a little milder than dose #1 which was a relief.
One week out now and I feel great. One more week and I'll have peak immunity. We plan to have a small get together with another couple who is also fully vaxxed once we hit that milestone.

Had the chills for a couple of hours this morning. No fever, muscle ache or upset stomach, don't feel especially energetic, so take a break day.

(7,572 posts)my arm is still slightly sore, but had no other ill effects at all. The first shot's sore arm went away in 24 hrs., so this one had a slightly increased affect physically.
ProfessorGAC
(65,159 posts)Not even the sore arm. Same with my wife.
Both of us had mild reactions to the second.
I'm feeling ok and haven't even taken acetaminophen.
Still a pinch flushed, but totally tolerable.

But, I feel ok. No chills, no soreness.
It'll pass.
