What Parler saw during the attack on the Capitol
https://projects.propublica.org/parler-capitol-videos/

"Being the biggest crime of the last fifty years, and everybody wanted to
Get in the newspaper story about it.
And they was using up all kinds of
Cop equipment that they had hanging around the police officer's station.
They was taking plaster tire tracks, foot prints, dog smelling prints, and
They took twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy photographs with circles
And arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each
One was to be used as evidence against us. Took pictures of the approach,
The getaway, the northwest corner the southwest corner and that's not to
Mention the aerial photography." --What Officer Obie was doing in Alice's Restaurant...

NOTE: This was supposed to be a 3 part series at most. It's becoming an unpaid full time job! Who knew?

"alleged" rioter

A former New York City police officer accused of participating in the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol — where a Capitol Hill policeman lost his life — is reportedly unhappy about being detained among people charged with “inner-city” crimes.

Washington Post reporter Rachel Weiner tweeted that a lawyer for Thomas Webster, who prosecutors say beat a D.C. police officer with a flagpole, is arguing that the 54-year-old suspect is uncomfortable with his “dormitory setting.” He is reportedly housed with people who allegedly committed what the attorney calls “inner city crimes.” Webster is also accused of trying to gouge out that officer’s eyes.

“For a middle aged guy whose never been arrested before, this has been a shock for him,” that attorney reportedly said.

Capitol police leadership ripped to shreds amid new bombshell revelations surrounding Jan 6 riot

"I expected police in military gear and a response as aggressive as I've come to anticipate covering and observing protests over the past year, where a single water bottle thrown at a cop line can bring a volley of tear gas and percussion grenades in retaliation," wrote Ismail. But instead, "I'd never seen law enforcement show this level of restraint at any protest, much less a riot."

https://www.rawstory.com/capitol-police-insurrection-2652599775/

...found that Capitol Police leadership dismissed threat assessments and forbid rank-and-file officers from appropriately responding to the threat. The New York Times reviewed a copy of the document and reported that the Capitol Police’s own intelligence warned three days before that “Congress itself is the target on the 6th.” There were warnings about who would be in the crowd: “Stop the Steal’s propensity to attract white supremacists, militia members and others who actively promote violence may lead to a significantly dangerous situation for law enforcement and the general public alike.” Bolton’s report also unearthed pre-insurrection warnings from the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security, which had relayed to the Capitol Police that a map of the Capitol’s tunnel system had turned up on pro-Trump message boards.

But the 104-page report found that rather than ramp up security, the officers on duty were ordered to carry only limited riot-prevention equipment, and not carry stun grenades. Bolton wrote that “heavier less-lethal weapons were not used that day because of orders from leadership.” He added that the unit was “operating at a decreased level of readiness as a result of standards for equipment” that diminished “operational readiness.”

Even without this new report, it was obvious the Capitol Police should have done more. Counter-extremism experts had been ringing the alarm bells for months. Trump’s most fervent supporters had become progressively more radicalized in plain sight. But the report shows just how negligent the Capitol Police brass really was ahead of the riot—which, as we’ve seen through footage and in report after report, nearly proved far more deadly than it ultimately did.

28. Lifetime Founding Member of the Oath Keepers Pleads Guilty to Breaching Capitol on Jan. 6
Fri Apr 16, 2021, 03:36 PM
Apr 2021

He faces up to 30 years in prison.

Jon Schaffer, 53, of Columbus, Indiana, today admitted that he breached the Capitol on January 6, 2021, wearing a tactical vest and armed with bear repellent, and pleaded guilty to unlawfully entering the U.S. Capitol to obstruct Congress’ certification of the U.S. presidential election results.

"On this 100th day since the horrific January 6 assault on the United States Capitol, Oath Keepers member Jon Schaffer has pleaded guilty to multiple felonies, including for breaching the Capitol while wearing a tactical vest and armed with bear spray, with the intent to interfere with Congress’ certification of the Electoral College results," said Acting Deputy Attorney General John P. Carlin. "The FBI has made an average of more than four arrests a day, seven days a week since January 6th. I commend the hundreds of special agents, prosecutors and support staff that have worked tirelessly for the last hundred days to bring those who committed criminal acts to justice."

"The defendant in this case admits forcing his way into the U.S. Capitol on January 6 for the express purpose of stopping or delaying congressional proceedings essential to our democratic process. These actions are disgraceful and unacceptable" said FBI Deputy Director Paul M. Abbate. "The FBI and our partners will continue to utilize all available authorities to aggressively investigate, pursue and hold accountable those who committed acts of violence or otherwise violated the rule of law that day."

31. Capitol rioter who stole cop's body armor and pillaged Pelosi's office released before trial: report
Sun Apr 18, 2021, 01:51 PM
Apr 2021

According to a report from the Daily Beast, one of the alleged Capitol rioters accused of trashing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office and stealing police body armor on Jan 6th. has been released from jail pending his trial.

William Robert Norwood III of South Carolina has been charged with obstruction of an official proceeding and theft of government property -- both felonies -- after boasting to his family about his participation in the deadly attack on the Capitol.

According to the Beast, "Norwood, who goes by Robbie, boasted to family members about assaulting a law enforcement officer, according to court documents. 'It worked,' he wrote to family members. 'I got away with things that others were shot or arrested for.' He went on to brag of his bounty. 'I got a nice helmet and body armor off a cop for God's sake and i (sic) disarmed him,' he wrote in messages to friends and family. 'Tell me how that works.'"

The report notes that Norwood, who lied to the FBI and insisted he was a member of Antifa, asked for home detention and his request was granted with the court noting he had no previous criminal record.

34. No criminal charges for officer who fatally shot woman during Capitol riot

Apr 2021

The Department of Justice will not bring charges against the Capitol Police officer who shot and killed an Air Force veteran as she climbed through a doorway inside the U.S. Capitol on January 6. Ashli Babbitt was killed as rioters broke into the Capitol while lawmakers inside were confirming the Electoral College results certifying Joe Biden's presidential victory.

An investigation found insufficient evidence to support criminal prosecution and determined that the officer could reasonably believe it was necessary to shoot Babbitt out of self-defense or in defense of those evacuating the House Chamber.

Babbitt, a 35-year-old from Ocean Beach California, was part of a mob that attempted to break through doors that led to the Speaker's Lobby, an area near the Chamber of the U.S. House of Representatives, where Capitol Police had been evacuating members from the House Chamber.

37. Hundreds of posts about plans to attack the Capitol. Why hasn't evidence been used in court?

Russel L. Honore'@ltgrusselhonore

There are hundreds of posts about plans to attack the Capitol. Why hasn't this evidence been used in court? Come on @FBI get your head out your aaa

FBI officials have repeatedly said they gathered no credible intelligence in the weeks leading up to the Jan. 6 insurrection suggesting that pro-Trump extremists intended to storm the U.S. Capitol.

And even after months of intensive investigation, Justice Department prosecutors have presented no evidence so far that any of the 420 individuals charged to date for their actions Jan. 6 planned in advance to attack the building in which Congress was certifying Joe Biden's victory in the presidential election.

But a new report by a nonprofit research group, and a separate review by NBC News, uncovered hundreds of social media posts discussing plans to move on the Capitol, including a map of the building and talk of how to create a stampede that would overwhelm Capitol Police.

"You know there will be riot police preventing us from getting in the capitol building," one anonymous poster wrote in December. "What if we created a stampede/crush situation? Start pushing from the back. Surely they will have to get out of the way or get crushed. They're not going to start shooting people."

One post on a very active forum for angry Trump fans called the TheDonald.win was titled "If we occupy the Capitol building, there will be no vote." The top response to that post reads: "GOTTA OVERWHELM THE BARRICADES AND COPS."
