While getting my 2nd shot, was told to exercise my arm & she demonstrated by simply raising her arm parallel to floor
and down again. Discomfort went away faster than my 1st shot and very easy to do.

(86,596 posts)I'll do that when I get my next shot next week. I didn't know what to expect last time, I'm getting prepared for this one.

(31,516 posts)I didn't experience any bad pain, just a stiff, achy feeling.

(4,999 posts)I was swinging my arm around frequently (like every 10 minutes for the first few hours).
Was also told not to take any pain meds -- the cdc has a report that tests on mice show pain meds can reduce antibody response, and so recommends avoiding pain meds if at all possible.
So I suffered one night with a pretty bad headache -- it was two days after the shot. I got in a recliner to keep my head elevated and keep the blood pressure lower in my head. Next morning I was tired, but no longer feeling the effects of the shot. Slept like a rock the next night!

(21,869 posts)(at least that's what I got). I got my first Moderna shot on Thursday. The fact-sheet information says :
Discomfort: Move the arm around and apply a clean, cool compress"
Fever: Drink plenty of fluids
they also give you information about signing up to V-Safe. It's an app where you can list any symptoms of your vaccine so the experts who are studying the virus can be informed.
I thought the literature they handed me was very helpful.

(12,652 posts)Eat healthy before and after, go to bed early.
Any side effects are mitigated if your body has plenty of fuel and rest to fight them off.
Got my first Pfizer yesterday. Laz will get a J&J tomorrow.

(6,204 posts)Pfizer shot. I did feel the shot this time but the side effects were almost non-existent. Immediately after the shot I started to exercise my shot arm since I was not driving. When I got home I continued to exercise by doing small circles every half hour for about a minute. Eating well helped, too.

(3,334 posts)I asked the nurse to give me my shots in my dominant arm. I had a little discomfort but not any pain. The next day after shots I needed to take a nap about 4 hours after I got up. 3-hour naps and that was it.
