General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsFor weeks now, the nonsense that "the election was rigged and Trump actually won by a landslide" has
been called "the big lie". It might be appropriate to consider what Ol' Adolph himself said about "the big lie" in "Mein Kampf":
"---in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional
nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves
often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they
would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their
minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation."
I don't think any comment by me is necessary.

(7,608 posts)The fact that the "fake news" people consider the big lie and the Big Liar sufficiently important to continue the discussion affirms the belief that the election was stolen for the MAGA crowd.

(260 posts)That is the whole idea of "the big lie." The simple people can't comprehend that anyone would ever lie that big. If you lie so big and so often, they'll think you can't possibly be lying so big, so maybe there's something to what you're saying. The GOP has figured this out and uses the technique brazenly.

(854 posts)A perpetual 74+ year old juvenile until his ultimate demise. That's just who is. And always has been. This same bs would have happened in 2016 as well, except that then he eked out the win. It's been said that he didn't expect to win in 2016, yet he was pushing the same bs of a corrupt election back then, before that election. The man is, and always will be, a lying SOB of a scoundrel, conman, crook and whatever other expletive you can attach to his name. Has been since the 1980s at least. It will never cease to blow my mind that this dumbass crook somehow managed to get the pubbie nomination and ascend to the presidency (or presiduncy). And make no mistake, while there is certainly an element of "sly like a fox" in him, he's dumber than a box of rocks. A very evil version of the Chancy Gardener character. It's a like an exponential, roid rage case of the Peter principle.
And if he does run again in 2024 and gets the pubbie nomination, this nation is truly, inevitably lost. If for no other reason than we will then know that a good portion of the voters in this nation have totally lost it. "Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me." Even after his complete incompetence in response to Covid resulted in about 500k deaths. Where the hell is the press corps? 500K deaths? And what are they harping on? The border "crisis", like it was non-existent prior to Biden. Or Manchin, will he or won't he? Will Biden be more conciliatory for bipartisanship with the pubbies, and other such krap. If I keep going, I'm gonna blow...

And Russia, Iran, NK, and China are busy posting CTs like this to "convince young (and old) gulibles" not to get vaxxed... and they believe them... and they help them by spreading them all over the socials:

Hitler's audience may have accepted his lies with a modicum of reasonable doubt, but Trumpanistas believe in the BIG LIE with religious fervor.
