In the tale of Goldilocks, the first bowl of porridge was too hot, the second was too cold, and the third was just right.
Or at least that was Goldilocks' opinion.
If an approval rating survey were taken of that "just right" bowl of porridge, one could imagine that the result would be that some folks would disapprove because it was too cold for their taste, some would disapprove because it was too hot, and a few would approve because they concurred with Goldilocks that it was "just right". When opposite sides are misleadingly added together and compared to the center position, I call that the "Goldilocks Syndrome".
fivethirtyeight.com says 54.5% currently approve of Joe Biden and 40.6% disapprove. I don't think people realize what an extremely high approval rating that is.

(5,542 posts)When approval was sub 50%, there needed to be further questions about why. The few polls I saw that bothered to ask made it clear that much of that disapproval was because they wanted something more liberal. The net response on the ACA or better responses were in the high 50s.

(627 posts)the Biden polls on immigration and gun control. The disapprove side includes those who think he is not doing enough and those who think he is wrong on the issue. Same with the ACA when they were trying to pass it.
