Former Georgia deputy called beating Black man sweet stress relief in messages to violent extremists
A former sheriff’s deputy in Georgia bragged in group chats with members of a California-based extremist group about violently beating a Black man while on the job, calling it a “sweet stress relief,” according to federal investigators.
Wilkinson County deputy Cody Griggers was fired in November 2020 after investigators discovered his texts as they combed through the phone records belonging to a group called “Shadow Moses.” Its members often discussed militia-type prepping, including lengthy conversations about weapons, combat gear and survivalist techniques, according to court documents.
Griggers, a former Marine, also fantasized about a “theoretical civil war” against liberals and Black, Muslim and other non-White Americans and advocated for the for killing politicians and others he who opposed his points of view.
“Oh, got wrapped up in my AR and forgot to tell y’all that I beat the s--- out of a n----- Saturday,” he wrote in one text sent on Aug. 12, 2019.

This begs the question. If he loved carrying an AR why is he a "former Marine"? Was he kicked out of the service?
