Charlie Crist running for Florida governor

Donít like the move...for one, he has lost his last two statewide races and will lose again, and second he is in a district where it is pretty even so it would be best for Democrats if he tried for reelection

1. Nice guy but doesn't stand a chance.

Thatís my opinion. We are going to need someone tough as nails to go against DeSantis.

2. My media exposure here is mostly North and Central Florida and DeSantis rarely gets any pushback on

anything. Unless he really steps in it somehow he is going to be tough to beat. Demings could be formidable, but I haven't heard what her plans are. Might be Senate.
Crist?....meh, I don't think he would move the meter much anymore.

3. A series of primary debates between Crist and Gwen Graham would be

helpful in raising their profiles.

Exposure is key.

6. Nikki Fried, Graham and Christ. All excellent Dem choices.

When the primary dust clears, Democrats will have a rock solid candidate/challenger to go against Gov. Death Sentence.

5. a two term governor and a daughter of a long time senator/governor

If a two term governor and a daughter of a long time senator/governor need help in raising their profiles then they are a weak general election candidates.

9. He is in a very even district.

Jolly was the last representative before Crist from his district and Jolly had to take on both Crist and the Republicans.

I like your thoughts of him trying to hold that down. He has actually gained a respect in the area outside of the right wing extremists we have. The last person he ran against was truly a right wing extremist. Had Republicans run a Jolly, who knows.

I still don't think we will win a state wide race until we get better organized. We are hurting in Fl.

11. All damn....I forgot about that possibility

Itís sucks that a state can grow an extra district, but still somehow get rid of a Congressman...If thatís the case, then I understand his reasoning for wanting to run for governor....still going donít think he can win though

Edit - he could have been Senator Crist right now and running for re-election if he decided to become a Democrat instead of an independent in the 2010 race vs Rubio

12. They could divide St. Pete a bit more and make that a reality.

That is what their intent was under the current district lines.

14. Florida is a Republican state..If they could vote for someone as extreme as

Desantis and even consider re-electing him again tells you all you need to know. He is basically a younger version of Trump and it seems like a majority approves. SMH. We almost moved there when my husband retired from the military. So happy that we changed our mind.
