(1,096 posts)mcconnell's position was/is absolutely predictable.
One would think that he would eventually tire of having obstructionism as his only goal in life and maybe do something useful every now and then. Alas...

(21,360 posts)this is what I was trying to say in my earlier thread, The GQP Agenda.
Republicans have 1 objective, to win elections by obstructing Democrats and causing them to fail. It has gone on since Obama's presidency.
Let's use the infrastructure bill as an example, it is a 2 trillion dollar bill. IMO 2 trillion isn't enough, but what have Republicans succeeded in doing by arguing for bipartisanship? They have succeeded in delaying the legislation, they have succeeded in watering down the legislation when in truth it needs increased. They have given a couple of Democratic Senators an excuse for voting against the bill in the name of bipartisanship.
Democrats need to act, by acting they will control the narrative. Remember, Republicans want to run in 2022 and 2024 as the party of the working class.
By the way, the MSM is right wing, Democrats can't count on them helping, force the narrative on them. It also serves the purpose of getting MF45 off the air waves.

(46,122 posts)because Obama is biracial/black. I supposed otherwise, that Mitch would make this position a permanent one. IOW, whatever the Democrats want, even if Republicans also want it, they can't have it. Unless Democrats can get 60 reliable votes with a super-majority in the Senate, and that's a challenge by itself. It had nothing to do with Obama's heritage, race, ethnicity, etc.
