I would love to see a women mayor and think it's about time. 4 strong candidates.
You can read about ut here...
Theres never been a woman elected Mayor of New York City and four of the candidates attempting to change that fact through next years election met for a forum Tuesday night hosted by Amplify Her, an organization dedicated to electing more women to office in New York City.
Former New York City Sanitation Commissioner Kathryn Garcia, nonprofit executive Dianne Morales, former city Veterans Affairs Commissioner Loree Sutton, and Maya Wiley, a civil rights attorney and former counsel to Mayor Bill de Blasio, participated in the forum. All four are Democrats and all are first-time candidates for any elected office.

(14,906 posts)at least two if not all three women as my 1st, 2nd & 3rd choices. I'm a born & bred NYC'r.
There are people here in NYC who are as of now are planning to pick two, if not all 3 top slots for the women candidates. 👍

(35,454 posts)But there are 4 women, just don't know much about 2 of them yet
Most of the males don't impress me and some not at all. Same old promises, same old rhetoric.

(15,428 posts)I wish I could have Adams and Yang, but I must choose one for the top (ranked choice makes it a little easier).

(18,486 posts)But it's hard for people to know that since they haven't gotten anywhere near the coverage that the men have

(839 posts)I only know Yang from his presidential run. I do not know Adams, or the other people running.
if AOC were able to, and decides to run I'm sure she'd get top headline. She was able to make the headlines before being elected so I knew all about her.

Wiley is the one I've heard. Garcia I know the name... I have to look at all four.

(35,454 posts)If you've been an MSNBC viewer in the past you would've seen a lot of Maya. I am also increasingly impressed with Kathryn Garcia. She has a fierce ad out.

(13,496 posts)she's capable and ready to run the city. Nobody has her experience in NYC.
Dorian Gray
(13,496 posts)but I'm hesitant about her as mayor. She's a fierce advocate for people, but being an adovcat and a mayor are often unaligned. It's something that BDB has suffered with, and led to limp decisions that make him look hypocritical or weak.

(13,496 posts)is my woman! She was endorsed by the NY Times, as well! Whoo. I think she's competent and every single man running for mayor said they'd hire her to run things. Uh no. She should run things. And hire one of them to make sure Yang stops showing up.

(35,454 posts)I like all the women a lot, for different reasons. They're all really involved with local organizations in different ways and have made a difference in our city.

(2,406 posts)I like Garcia. If I lived in NYC, she would be my first choice, followed by Adams and Yang.
I don't know anything about Sutton, but I wouldn't want Wiley or Morales.

(35,454 posts)have a long history of working for civil rights. I'm weak on Adams and don't know what I think about Yang as Mayor.

(15,428 posts)Adams and Yang are just too good to pass up this time around.
