14 year old murder suspect posts selfie from back of police car

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9563145/Boy-14-charged-murder-13-year-old-Florida-cheerleader.html

A fourteen-year-old boy has been charged with murdering a 13-year-old Florida cheerleader whose body was found in woods on Sunday night, less than 12 hours after she was reported missing.

Aiden Fucci, 14, has been named by police as the suspect in the killing of 13-year-old Tristyn Bailey.

On Sunday night, he took a selfie in the back of a cop car which he then posted on Snapchat with the caption 'hey guys has anybody seen Tristyn lately'.

Police confirmed to News Jax, a local site in Jacksonville, that the selfie was part of their investigation.

He has been taken into custody on second-degree murder charges but prosecutors have not yet decided if he will be charged as a juvenile or adult.

Tristyn's body was found in woods near Fucci's home on Sunday night, less than 12 hours after her family reported her missing. It's unclear how she died but police say her body was found fully clothed - she was wearing a dark top and white cheer skirt.

Where in america does a murder suspect get transported without cuffs and in possession of his phone?

Hell, they cuff 5 year old kids in school for some bs transgression.

Rhetorical question. He is in wealthy white america.

Yesterday watched a show about serial killers and one of the striking things is they start killing at a young age. First with animals and then to human beings.

I hope this kid gets the help he needs.

A nine-year-old girl on the paper route he had has gone unaccounted for to this day. And Jeffery Dahmer was a young teen when he began "cutting his teeth" by dissecting roadkill.

... in Bath Township, Ohio.

Used to see that house in the early seventies and thought its design in the woods was very nice.

Dahlmer claimed he murdered and dismembered his first human there, though no human bones were found on the property. Lots of animal bones, though.

Here ya go. The owner is a member of Tin Huey.

Truth is that there would be a lot more serial killers, but most are caught after their first murder and never get the chance to meet the criteria.

If this kid would have gone on to become a serial killer depends more on the reason that he killed her rather than the fact that he killed her, assuming they have the right guy. If he got mad and killed her in a rage or did something that accidentally killed her then he probably wasn't going to turn into one. On the other hand if he killed her out of needing to fulfil some compulsion or fantasy....then he would likely have kept on killing as long as he could.

That message he posted is very suggestive of a sociopath though. Taunting families and police is something we see over and over again in serial killers. It gives them a feeling of power and importance. In a lot of serial killers we can identify an event that happened where they lost the illusion of being special and they have a very deadly change. Not that the event made them killers, that was always there, but it escalated them. The killings in this case might be about regaining the power they feel they lost.

It's possible that Bundy killed Ann Marie Burr, but I think it's less likely. Really the evidence here is circumstantial. He lived nearby and his paper route was close to where she disappeared. The father claimed he saw him in a ditch near PSU on the day she disappeared, but he only said that years later when the other Bundy murders became known. Memory from that long before is questionable at best. It's also 13 years before his first known murder and 8 years or so before any of his other suspected murders. There were other people in the area that are known pedophile/murders who could have committed the crime as well. The biggest question in my mind is if a 14 year old would have been able to abduct a girl (on his bike?) and get away with her without anyone seeing, then kill and hide her body never to be found again. I think it's more likely an adult with more experience in doing something like this, and a better ability to conceal her initially. Can't rule him out though.

That is some seriously sick, psychopathic behavior right there. "Anybody seen Tristyn?" Seriously, if I was the father of the murdered child, that smug little psychopath posting photos mocking her death would have been too much for me. I would have snapped and found a way to remove that filth from the face of the Earth. The need to avenge would short circuit my brain and behavior nearly for certain.

Now that said, it also exposes my internal yin-and-yang fight over this type of issue. I am steadfastly opposed to state-sanctioned death penalties as usually ineffective deterrent, often racist in application and frequently cruel...however, when I am confronted by something that hits too close to home (such as having a young daughter killed by some of these monsters that exist out there) part of me falls to pieces and my thoughts have to be regulated and brought down from high boil immediate thirst for vengeance, to simmering rage, to eventual seeking of the strength to forgive but never forget.

If I were ever placed in such a situation for real - confronted by evil and facing unimaginable loss like that, I truly think I'd need sedation and medical help to facilitate the process because I can feel the anger just thinking about it, let alone being thrust into it.

We are failing as a society when we grow children murderers and psychopaths like that. I am failing as a moral human being when I can feel my own rage short circuit my rational thoughts. Somewhere in this mess is a profound truth of the duality of man and taming the savage beast...I pray I never have to confront it for real though.

but a significant one is visceral. Even in the instance were guilt is "certain" (which is damned rare), the state doing the executing doesn't satisfy the bestial desire for bloody vengeance. Vengeance is personal. Anything the state will do will be impersonal.

Its only when my mind imagines going through it on he personal level - of being the victim's kin - that I struggle to fins the same certainty and moral certitude. That thirst for vengeance is primal and reflexive and poisonous all at once. Its hard work to get from there to forgiveness and healing and the worst part is I KNOW that in my soul, but it still boils up nonetheless.

Off topic now, but that is also why I feel so strongly against for-profit or private administration of prisons...the state represents us all and as a society we deem certain acts requiring punishment and rehabilitation before offenders are returned to society as free persons again. That is a DUTY for those abiding by the law to uphold against those who do not. To remain a nation of laws not men, we MUST purge our prisons of racist non-personal crimes (i.e. - disparate sentencing of drug offenders for possession, etc.) and we must accept that private prisons dehumanize this vital aspect of maintaining a free society. WE MUST ALL BEAR THAT BURDEN or no one will be truly equal under law.

I know that I carry white privilege under the officers of the law - my skin alone gives me a pass for some vehicular crimes and my appearance as a white man grants me wide latitude in how I am approached, how I am spoken to, how I interact with police and courts.

And yet, despite knowing these things and trying to model the right behavior and understanding to my kids, I still feel that ugly side of our collective humanity and struggle to keep it in the box it deserves. No easy answers, but a conversation that the NATION should remain focused on and engaged in.

If they don't charge him as an adult, he won't be in jail for many years.

Even as an adult, it's 2nd Degree they're charging, so he'll easily be out before he hits 30.
