skimming through headlines, because this particular event is of weighty interest, but I'm unable to find any reporting.
I don't turn on morning news shows these days, so maybe I missed it.
Anyone have any inside info on what happened?
Did President Biden bring Manchin into our fold as a Senate Democrat on vital matters such as SR1, Filibuster, etc?

Rachel said, all things considered, and compared to Manchins recent inflammatory comments, this was a hopeful sign.

(7,286 posts)to me. I don't believe I've seen or read any reporting on Clark's confirmation either. That's very troubling to me.
It's as if these Senators belong to the opposition. it's just weird.

(47,586 posts)is they aren't republicans. They may not be easy to deal with, but at least they do vote with Democrats a lot of the time, something that rarely happens with republicans. I suppose there have always been Democrats like them. I remember quite a few when Obama was trying to get the Affordable Care Act passed, at least two or three who seemed to represent insurance companies. They weakened and watered down the legislation. Blanche Lincoln and Max Baucus come to mind and I think Joe Lieberman behaved a lot like Joe Manchin is right now.

(7,286 posts)The reports that Baucus blocked the Public Option from Affordable Health Care bill, was so disheartening. But Lieberman was definitely the poison pill. Infuriating and disgusting.
But we at least have the two most of the time, however we need them to come through now 100% time or we're finished, imo.
I don't think Biden will be able to get through a freaking thing if we don't lose the filibuster haste.

(47,586 posts)One thing that Democrats really need to focus on is the mid-term elections. We can't afford to lose any seats and we need to win more. We have such an unique opportunity right now to make major, significant changes much like FDR and LBJ. We cannot let republicans and Blue Dogs stop our progress. They have done so much damage already for such a long time.
And yes, the damn filibuster has to go!

(66,462 posts)the huge influx of cash the infrastructure bill represents.
I don't know how many Republicans and conservative Democrats in West Virginia are true believers and will refuse government funding just on general purposes. But there have to be at least a few West Virginians who just want to go to work. I don't care if they support the bill and then badmouth President Biden, as long as the bill gets passed.
