(37,163 posts)This insanely-broad definition of "Marxism" covers US government from the Depression, thru WW2 thru the Cold War. The policies we had back then is how we defeated communism, by having a kind of capitalism that fostered wide-spread prosperity (with notable exceptions that still need to be addressed).
They used to be somewhat stymied back when the Soviets still existed and provided big freaking obvious counterexample, and this kind of talk could only go so far before people recognized them as extremist idiots. But since the USSR collapsed, they've been ever-freer to talk this crazy talk without pushback.

Besides, they're getting all their equipment from the Air Force (Space Force is simply US Air Force Space Command made into its own branch) and that's what the Air Force wears.

(65,227 posts)Here at DU, back at the time when the Ferguson protests were taking place, someone posted a pic.
It was of some idiot militia types patrolling the streets with their AR-15s & quasi tac gear.
Anyway, the whole background was red brick buildings & they were walking on black asphalt.
But, they were wearing camo.
I wished I could tell them "You do know that the camo makes it easier to see you, right?"

(49,445 posts)You are a government employee.
The government is paying for your: education (training), housing, and medical care, on-base recreation, and other common areas.
You are trained to be and drill as part of a larger whole, to act as a unified force, and to risk your individual health and life for your unit and your mission.
An awful lot of medals are awarded for a person sacrificing themselves to save their unit. When to act as a"rugged individual", you usually get punished.
