But lately, the small things have been mattering more.
I had to phone my physical therapy office this morning to check on a schedule. It was so refreshing to speak with a human telephone operator and then be referred to a human office receptionist.
It felt comforting that some humans in some places where actually taking care of customer service on the first call.
Maybe I will call the hospital a few days out of the month just to get that service again???

(86,600 posts)I went hiking yesterday, a fairly long but easy hike. My friend and I were exhausted when we returned to their home in town. I suggested we order delivery which meant pizza or something a pizza place has to offer. They called the order line and through the entire process, it was all robots on the phone. The only human was the delivery person. We couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of it. I got a salad that resembled airline food. It was was edible but weird.

(32,639 posts)Since the pandemic, Chipotle doesn't even take orders any more - unless you order online and prepay by credit card. Then you drive to their store and pick up your order, and in some areas they have a driver/delivery service.
It's possible to order by smart phone, but again it's an online order using their app. Nobody answers the phone at Chipotle. I still love their food but I'm really put off by their refusal to accept spoken orders.

(86,600 posts)A Chipotle but I get what you're saying. I live out in the country and my friend lives up at the county seat which is a city of roughly 10,000. It was an app o their phone. I was not favorably impressed and it confirmed my rationale for not eating fast food, or restaurant food for that matter.
