Last night, along with 600+ fellow citizens on Zoom, and 100s more on FB, I attended a "Not Above the Law" virtual town hall meeting hosted by Public Citizen. It felt good to be in the company of others who share my anger and fierce desire to see accountability.
At the end, they issued a call to action, asking us to contact our representatives FIRST THING THIS MORNING, and urge them to vote yes on the bill to set up a bipartisan commission to investigate the attack. They asked each of us to invite two friends to do the same. I'm hoping there are at least two DU members who will join me.
Although I would personally prefer an investigation by an independent, empowered third party, this is at least a start. If enough of us are demanding answers and accountability, it will be harder for the reThugs to continue trying to sweep it under the rug. At the very least, it feels good to join forces with a large group of like-minded people with a need to DO SOMETHING!
The phone # is 1-877-406-6303. They will provide a short script and connect you with your Congressional representative. THE VOTE IS TODAY! Sincere thanks for your consideration.
To satisfy my own curiosity, I'm including my very first poll.

(7,570 posts)I live in a district represented by a Democrat, (Mike Thompson) someone no one ever hears about, but he votes as he should.
(He has very close ties with Nancy Pelosi)
Had to barrage his offices with several calls last year on the first impeachment, which he was not inclined to support.
But at the point with the Ukrainian scandals he was finally on board.
Of course he'll be voting for the January 6th Commission. I wouldn't expect an opposing position on this matter.

(7,570 posts)during the Dumbya Regime. She was passionately against the invasion on Iraq. Relentless in her floor speeches. She called for his impeachment a number of times. But Pelosi poo pooed such calls. Eventually she retired herself from Congress. But at that point I think I had moved down to Alameda (Barbara Lee's district) and when I returned to Sonoma County, Mike Thompson was the Rep for the 5th district. I didn't know much about him until these past few years.
Then I met him in my little community just before it was time to vote on the first impeachment. He got an earful from a very crowded coffee meet up.

(1,826 posts)Just call the 877# and enter your zipcode on the prompt. You will automatically be connected to the right representative. My zip code is covered by two different House members, so the system gave me both options to choose from.
