Why in hell are the talking heads and chyron saying "Flynn denies APPEARING to SUGGEST a coup---"?
"Appearing"?
Listen to the damn tape!
Did Trump "appear to suggest" grabbing women "by the pussy" was OK?
Why are we bending over backwards to avoid saying that Flynn is a traitorous criminal who belongs in prison?

(38,958 posts)those "talking heads" through their network contact via email would be a bit more productive.
Haven't noticed it myself, but then I don't watch cable noise.

My TV stays off for most of the day now, it's just too much.

(16,254 posts)Their brains must work differently than ours. I listened to the video several times and it is obvious he said what the "fake" press reported. Even the "fake" citizens heard what we heard.
Since God explicitly made Republicans, maybe He included a few special features lowly Democrats didn't get? (Makes as much sense as they think they do.) After all, it was a Qanon rally, so...

(2,597 posts)At a minimum. Flynn should face whatever investigation and punitive measure under the UCMJ. Why has this not happened?

(34,137 posts)They repeat shows all night, nothing fresh provided unless there is a huge event. At most they have 14-18 hours of news and lots of times they rehash the same pseudo news - or provide no news at all - for those hours.
As much as I like Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O'Donnell and some of the other talking heads, I wish the cable news channels would do as NPR does. At the beginning of each hour, NPR does a short newscast. Then they move on to their programs for the rest of the hour. What they do not do is to put on "breaking news" if something major happens, but at least they give us a short synopsis of important news on a regular schedule.

(21,606 posts)major happens. On Jan 6 there was no regular programming once the sedition started. They reached members of Congress in hiding (or were contacted by members of Congress) and gave real time coverage. I listened to members of Congress and others on the scene describing what had happened and what was currently happening. I did not have access to TV at first, so I relied on NPR's breaking news coverage.

(34,137 posts)When we've had hurricanes go over, the local NPR station did absolutely no coverage of anything. Since I only listen to NPR, I've lost track of whatever local radio stations there are aside for one or two classic rock stations. When our power went out during one storm I expected to hear from NPR what was happening - they had some BBC Radio programming. Not one word even at the beginning of the hours of where the storm was, what was happening locally, and if the storm had passed.
I had to go station cruising and finally found a local AM right wing talk show station that had moment to moment coverage. They had dropped all their usual crap to keep listeners up to date. I find the weather stations provided by the National Weather Service to be poor sound quality and cannot understand most of what they are saying, so that is not on my list of places to get updates.
In the long ago past, I could tune in the local CBS affiliate to listen on FM but now that all the stations are digital that is no longer possible - that was my first alternative to NPR but only got static. Oh well, going forward I have a whole house generator and will not be literally left in the dark not knowing when it might be safe to go outside to access the damage. I will be able to keep one TV on and watch the local news - or online to keep track of the radar or satellite images.

(21,606 posts)gives better weather coverage than the other stations. Tornadoes are not common in this area, but they do occur sometimes. NPR does a good job of putting out warnings, the time for them, and specific counties and towns included. Same with severe thunderstorms and with the heavy snowfalls that this region is known for. When Buffalo had 7 feet of snow in two days, NPR superceded national programming to keep people updated on conditions, emergency numbers for people who were trapped in cars, requests for volunteers with snowmobiles, and public addresses by Cuomo, who stayed in Buffalo to direct the relief efforts.
When the first covid cases hit the Buffalo area, NPR carried local press conferences by the county commissioner that lasted hours and preempted scheduled national programs.
I guess it depends on your local station management. There is a problem at night sometimes, when recorded BBC programs are on, but even then there are interruptions from the national weather service for weather emergencies.

Why are they pussyfooting around this guy? He's a bad guy and has been for a long time, ever since he screwed up, got caught, and had to face a few consequences.
I still think the only reason he's backtracking now is that somebody told him if he didn't shut up, he was putting his pension in jeopardy.
