How Trump became an online flop in 2021
Blog gets yanked

After less than a month of postings, Trumps blog was officially taken offline this week, after drawing an embarrassingly small audience. Loyalists will no longer be able to check on From the Desk of Donald J. Trump to read his latest, bitter musings.
The sudden move to unplug the aging Florida blogger comes as Trump continues to struggle to attract an online audience after getting de-platformed by Twitter, Facebook and Instagram in the wake of the January 6, mob attack on the U.S. Capitol. The social media giants rightly accused Trump of inciting violence and of depicting the mob vigilantes as patriots. Once accustomed to seeing his tweets and Facebook posts garnering millions of likes and responses, Trump now finds himself lost in the online wilderness, ignored and rejected.

It hasnt just been his colossal flop as a blogger. All across the internet, references to Trump have plummeted, even as Republican leaders scramble to placate him.
The bad online news comes after Trumps recent one-hour sit-down with Steve Cortes and Jenn Pellegrino on NewsMax on May 25 drew just 295,000 viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research data and just 62,000 viewers in the advertiser-coveted age demographic of 25 to 54. That same night during the 9 p.m. time slot when Trump appeared on NewsMax, his interview got beat badly in the ratings by Chopped, and by HGTVs Unsellable Houses which pulled 1.3 million total viewers, or nearly four times the Trump audience.

The dichotomy now at play is an amazing one: As Trump fades from public view and generates so little interest online, the Republican Party continues to genuflect in front of him.

(19,254 posts)I think eventually he gets back on Facebook, Twitter I am not sure about.
Either way, it's good for the country. Him being gone from social media has given Biden a chance to get his presidency off to a roaring start. By the time Trump gets back on Facebook, Biden will have entrenched his wins into history and Trump will sound even dumber criticizing him.
And the rallies will start soon, but they're going to flop after a couple.

(6,377 posts)He's so used to having 15,000 people at these rallies. With his online megaphone gone and the power of the presidency taken away, what's gonna happen when they hype up his first rally in a month or something and only 4,000 people show?

(7,947 posts)I mean, if I were your typical no-values cynic GOPer, I'd be laying low and mumbling when asked about Trump-- keep my distance.
For one thing, he's probably going to be indicted.
I wonder if they've just lost their mooring. They gave up all principles and governing goals in 2016, and now they also don't seem to have the usual self-protection instincts. So they've got nothing to signal to them what the "best" (for them) move is. They're just letting themselves get sucked into Trump's flailing ego melodrama, because that's where the most energy (negative) is.
Good. Let them drown in his whirlpool.

(7,947 posts)That's what Trump is, a dead horse. Flaccid and rotting.

Oh, and he had no intention of paying anyone to do the work, of course. They were supposed to work for the privilege of glorifying HIM.
