Israel offers a glimpse of life after herd immunity: With 80% of adults vaccinated...

As the US scrambles to incentivize people to get vaccinated, Israel is reaping the benefits of its successful vaccine rollout: The nation reported just 15 new daily coronavirus cases, on average, in the last week — its lowest count in more than a year.

The decline in infections has been so encouraging that Israel lifted some of its last remaining coronavirus restrictions on Tuesday. Businesses can now operate at full capacity, and residents no longer have to show proof that they've been vaccinated to enter restaurants, sporting events, or entertainment venues.

Even before the new rule, Israel's schools were fully open, masks were no longer required outdoors, and mass gatherings were taking place across the country. Now Israel's only barrier to normal life is a requirement to wear masks in public indoor spaces — a rule that could be lifted as soon as next week, according to Israeli health officials.

Under 5 deaths a day for over 5 weeks.

This is coming to the states that are vaccinating really well.

And total % of population vaccinated is what we look at for herd immunity, but % of adults is still useful because it's roughly what the final % will look like as those adults that are vaccinated will be getting their children vaccinated when it is approved for use for them. Maybe there's a couple points of play as some adults who were vaccinated won't get their children done, but it's pretty close.

12 states in the US now have over 70% of adults vaccinated, those states are going to see Israel like results soon.

This is why our government should be doing more, FAR MORE, to push vaccinations. We simply are not doing nearly enough to get more people vaccinated at faster rates. We could start by forcing all public sector employees to get vaccinated, all workers in restaurants and grocery stores, and any other jobs where people have to deal with the public.

Three of those states, HI, N.H., and MD had only 3 deaths between them yesterday.

I believe you had about half the country that couldn't wait to get vaccinated. Those people are vaccinated now, another % was wait and see, those people will get vaccinated. Then there's the % that will need a little incentive, we're seeing those incentives start. It's all about getting to that 75% target, do we need the stick to hit that number? We'll see.

Over 70% of adults with at least one shot here, and just 65 new Covid cases yesterday.

That's the lowest number of new cases since March 24, 2020. Pretty amazing.
