Youre probably going to find out about it anyway so heres a little preemptive truth-telling: Theres no happy ending.
Thats how the voice of the late Anthony Bourdain greets viewers in the official trailer for Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain.
The upcoming documentary about the renowned chef, restaurateur and author is billed as an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at how an anonymous chef became a world-renowned cultural icon. Made by Oscar-winning filmmaker Morgan Neville, who previously was behind the Mister Rogers biopic, Wont You Be My Neighbor, the film appears to unpack Bourdains life as a food and travel lover searching for deeper meaning.
Bourdain was found dead by suicide in June 2018 while working on an episode of his hit CNN series, Parts Unknown. His death sent shock waves throughout the globe as his impact stretched far beyond just the food world. ...........(more)

(5,816 posts)he experienced exuded from every episode. I always learned something each time I watched. He was funny, profane, wicked smart and a deeply troubled man. We found out how much when he died. I dont always feel terrible pain when celebrities die, but with him, it was like finding out an old friend was gone. It was a gut punch in many ways. I hope the documentary does his life justice and helps us understand why his life ended so tragically.

(11,949 posts)But this loyal fan could see it getting darker the last couple of years. He wrote every show so it was a reflection on his state of mind.
Ironically I was in France when he died. It upset me. I still watch his shows regularly. I actually like No Reservations better than parts unknown.
Depression is a horrible disease.
