Subway employee sparks controversy with response to customer's 'disrespectful' alleged sandwich orde

Subway employee sparks controversy with response to customer’s ‘disrespectful’ alleged sandwich order: ‘Do your job’

A Subway employee is sparking a massive online debate after sharing a customer’s alleged $460 sandwich order.

The claim comes courtesy of a now-viral video posted on TikTok. The clip, shared by user @gojij24, has thousands of commenters arguing over who is in the wrong when a fast-food chain turns down an elaborate order request.

It’s a debate that comes after a series of similar viral Subway orders. In the past, TikTokers have shared alleged customer requests ranging from adding sauce until a sandwich is “oozing” to toasting a sub until it’s burnt to a crisp.

According to @gojij24, this particular order was so difficult that their store had to cancel it. The TikToker claimed in their clip that a customer placed the order at 2:30 a.m. in the morning. The price totaled $462, and the receipt was allegedly longer than the register counter.

I used to manage the McDonald's a mile from the MN Vikings training center. It wasn't unusual for the team bus to come by at 2 or 3 in the morning full of players. They would send the driver in with upto 10 pages of orders. We would give them an estimate on how long it would take us to make their food, often over an hour. They would just park the bus and wait.

But that isn't great for the bottom line.

Large orders were handled by building realistic expectations how long it would take to complete. And get payment up front.

I had the advantage of a huge freezer full of food so could meet virtually any order. The Subway may not have had enough product to fulfill the order which would be a very valid reason to decline the order.

The one place I drew the line was abuse of my workers. They didn't get paid enough to get yelled at; that was my job to get yelled at if something was wrong. I asked several people to leave when they thought the counter person was a verbal punching bag. I told a couple to get the fuck out and never come back when they really went over the line. We didn't need money from anyone like that.

They may not have the product or the employees scheduled for the order.

I don’t think one big order scandal will affect business.

An order that big would be treated as catering, pre-ordered with a scheduled delivery or pick-up time, and unless they were reliable regulars for this sort of thing a deposit would be required, with remainder paid upon completion of the order.

Your thing with the Vikings sounds like it happened often enough that it could be planned for, at least roughly, and you could count on getting paid. (And if you didn't, you knew who to complain to.)

With our three person minimum, cook drive thru cashier and manager. When they had a home game we were pretty sure they would stop by so maybe would add one more.

We just would let them know it was going to take time. It's then their choice to wait or leave.

We'd always ask for payment before starting any large order; everyone understood why and I never had a complaint.

I wouldn't trust them to give me a cup of clean ice water.

The list of fast food chains I refuse to eat at is pretty short but Subway is on it.

I go once every six months in the morning on the way to work for a sandwich for later if I know I'm gonna be stuck at my desk all day as it's literally the only sandwich shop open at 9am and no one else is there. The one I go to is immaculate (at that time of day).

But there are way better sandwich shops open at all other times to go otherwise.

But if Subway is all ya got then I reckon it's better than starving.

I go to Taco bell about twice a year just to remind myself why I quit going to Taco Bell.

Well, I don't _love_ yogurt. I kinda like that greek vanilla yogurt that I can put cherry juice infused craisins and triple-berry granola in. I imagine at that point it's as much candy and ice-cream as candy and ice-cream would be.

For 60 ish people? What? A couple hundred burgers?

Not sure how subway would handle such a large order on short notice since they bake their bread as they go (I think) and their production line is quite a bit slower by its nature.

Obviously McDonald’s does larger volume and the way they mass cook their burgers I would think a couple hundred wouldn’t be much of a bump in the road given enough time

Plus I wouldn’t want someone with those big germ catching nails handling my food. My brother refuses to eat at subway since the one by his house keeps getting shut down for what he calls “poopy fingers”

Shigella Outbreak Closes Subway in IL

https://www.foodsafetynews.com/2010/03/shigella-outbreak-closes-subway-in-il/

By Zach Mallove on March 6, 2010
WGN Local News in Lombard, Illinois reported Thursday that a Subway restaurant has been closed by the DuPage County Health Department after several customers contracted Shigellosis, a gastrointestinal illness.

The Health Department said 8 confirmed cases had been reported, and of those 8 victims, 4 were hospitalized. As many as 50 more cases of illness are possible, according to officials, and the agency is advising that anyone who ate at the Subway located at 1009 E. Roosevelt Road between February 24 and March 4 to contact the Health Department.

Love going to the only Subway within 100 of me 1 hour and 15 minutes from us in Costa Rica.

No one had poopy fingers and we knew the employees by name.

Tho I do concede franchise food stores can be a lot different from others in the same franchise.

No way they have 465 rolls done. 50 would be a lot. I think it would take 8 hours to do all the bread. They only have so much equipment. I’m sure it could be done, but they’d get their order at midnight.

When they went on field trips, the kids were allowed to order ahead of time one of 3 sandwiches, they got fries, and their choice of drink. She then called the restaurant to let them know about the big order coming up. On the way to their destination, the bus would pull into the restaurant parking lot, mom went in to give the manager the list, the method of payment, and when they would be back.

Just before the bus left the field trip location, she called the restaurant and let them know they were on their way. When the time came for their meal, the kids were seated in an area the restaurant set aside for them. Mom collected the food and she and other supervising adults gave the kids their meals.

There was never a problem with the fast food place (usually Mickey D's) or the order. THAT is how it should be done.

A payment that can't be canceled.

People that think this is funny really suck.

The people that make the videos and the people who watch them.
