Five states have yet to administer one dose of vaccine to half their populations

Five states have yet to administer one dose of the coronavirus vaccine to half their populations as vaccinations in the U.S. have slowed in recent months.

Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Wyoming are all struggling to get their populations vaccinated, with data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) this week showing they have not given one dose to more than 50 percent of their populations.

The vaccine hesitancy in these states and other regions of the country could threaten President Biden's goal to get 70 percent of the country one coronavirus shot by the Fourth of July.

Alabama's deputy health officer, Karen Landers, said the state will not be able to meet Biden's goal but added that it "does not deter us from encouraging people to get the vaccine," The Associated Press reported.

After the 2020 election cycle, control of state government in Louisiana was divided between Democrats, who held the governorship, and Republicans, who held both chambers of the state legislature.

Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Wyoming

Wyoming is almost an outlier to me, but still not shocked.

Especially since all of them are among the tops in "highly religious" beliefs, except for Wyoming, in this country.

https://www.pewforum.org/interactives/how-religious-is-your-state/?state=alabama
1. Alabama 77%
1. Mississippi 77%
3. Tennessee 73%
4. Louisiana 71%
...
22. Wyoming 54%

Edit: By the way, the NE USA has the lowest percentages of the "highly religious", and they're also the leaders in vaccination rates.
Every single state has in the USA is more religious than countries like the UK. I'd like very much to live there instead.

Ohio doesn't meet that standard either. We're at 46.6% for a first dose.

ETA: Not sure why they are picking on 5 states - there are quite a few more that do not have half of their population partially vaccinated.

Idaho 38.3
Montana 49.4
North Dakota 42.8
Wyoming 37.9
Nevada 46.9
Utah 46.2
Arizona 47.5
South Dakota 49.0
Nebraska 49.4
Kansas 47.7
Oklahoma 42.2
Texas 45.8
Louisiana 36.6
Arkansas 40.4
Missouri 43.1
Tennessee 39.9
Mississippi 34.9
Alabama 36.6
Kentucky 47.5
Indiana 42.8
Michigan 49.8
Ohio 46.9
W. Virginia 41.8
North Carolina 44.1
South Carolina 41.9
Georgia 41.3

I don't really know since I'm struggling to find percentages for the following demographic receiving at least one dose, but it probably should've been phrased "percentage of adults" instead. That seems plausible given the current overall numbers.

I've previously encountered mix-ups about entire populations versus adult populations in some other articles, so that's why I suspect it happened again.
