My understanding is that Newsons name is actually not on the ballot. If thats the case, how can he beat down idiots like Jenner and Cox? Do they have to win a certain percentage?

OP
His name is not on the ballot because it is a recall not a regular election...

(89 posts)1. We vote "No" on the recall
...which makes the voting on his successor moot. Its only if the yes votes win that the numbers for the candidates matter.
I appreciate the information. I voted in the 2003 recall but I couldnt remember the details how it was carried out. I do remember, however, the endless ballot of lunatics who wanted to play Governor.

I hope and believe my fellow Californians will repudiate this ridiculous attempt to overturn the results of a lawful election.🤞

What would a recall ballot look like?
The recall ballot would have two parts. In the first part, voters would have the option to vote yes or no to the question of whether to remove the Governor from office. In the second part, the voter would have an opportunity to select a replacement candidate, and those votes for a successor candidate would only be counted if more than 50% of voters casting ballots in the recall election vote to recall the Governor. (Cal. Const., art. II, § 15(c); Elec. Code, §§ 11320, 11322)
