Putin to Biden. We're very similar you and I. Isn't that a super-villain cliche?

Putin likens Russian crackdown to arresting Capitol rioters (AP)

MOSCOW (AP) — Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is to meet President Joe Biden at a summit Wednesday, has suggested that the hundreds of people arrested for rioting at the U.S. Capitol are being subjected to “persecution for political opinions.”

Putin is likely to come under strong criticism from Biden at their meeting in Geneva for moves against his political opponents in Russia, particularly the imprisonment of opposition leader Alexei Navalny, the detention of thousands of demonstrators protesting his arrest, and the outlawing of Navalny’s organizations as extremist.

“You are presenting it as dissent and intolerance toward dissent in Russia. We view it completely differently,” he said in an interview with NBC News broadcast Monday. He then pointed to the Jan. 6 insurrection in Washington when protesters barged into the Capitol to try to halt the count of electoral votes to certify Biden’s election victory over Donald Trump.

What usually happens next is the person who said that ends up catching a beating, and having all their well-laid plans destroyed in front of them. Is he SURE that's where he wants to go?

Keep in mind, the Russian People are not my enemy, and never have been. But Putin and his Mob-State Government could get bombed into oblivion tomorrow and there wouldnt be any tears, is all I'm sayin.

Putin is simply a smart version of Trump who has control of the media. If Trump had been able to seize control of the media, he'd have been all powerful here and been able to do away with our Democracy easily and keep an approval rating in the 80s.

Without a free media, there are DUers who'd have supported Trump, once you get to that point, the propaganda is very hard to resist.

We probably need to get past the view of Putin is simply a murderous petro-thug. In the grand scheme of geopolitics, right now he's really just a fairly effective catspaw for expanding Chinese global strategy. He might even be a little bit in denial of that. He has his own agenda and his own mischief to stir up. But in the big picture, what Gaddafi was to Brezhnev, Putin is to Xi.
