(7,286 posts)She works here and her husband works there. He came to visit for Xmas and they would not let him cross the border by car to visit his family. He went back to where he lives and flew in.
More recently they wanted to get together after months apart> But they have all these strict rules on quarantine. In order to meet all their rules for quarantines he had to take a month off work and almost got fired. My colleague, her husband and their child are all vaccinated. Crossing the border into Canada was a nightmare! They were accused of human trafficking their own child and threatened to take her away from them! Gave them all kinds of grief and interrogation about that. Then got after them about COVID. She was horrified afraid.
Once they got there they had to quarantine for 2 weeks. They were not even allowed to take a walk outside. The authorities called them every day to check on them, sometimes twice.
She hates Canada now

(4,554 posts)If so, they would have basis for a formal complaint but it's still hard to tell w/o knowing what exactly transpired between they and the border agents. They can be pretty tough, and rightfully so IMO (when it comes to suspected child trafficking).
I would want to know for instance what their response was when asked questions or for identification documentation.
