And, he has a 3 year, $25 million contract, with $18 million guaranteed.
Plus, he's a starter, meaning he's awfully good.
He'll be on the team.

His career will not be affected at all. If the raiders cut him other teams would line up to sign him. As long as his performance on the field keeps him a starter he will be fine.
Remember also, NFL players are mainly in their 20s. They grew up with a totally different view on being gay than this 55 year old in my 20s.

I just wish we lived in a world where it didn't matter. I wish everyone could feel comfortable about being who they are.

Yeah, we're glad for him, we're glad he's getting support, we're glad the public reaction is positive.
But, I think we'd be glad when a pro athlete says he's gay, and the society shrugs and says "Ok, by me."
We're not there yet, but it would be good if we were.

(11,949 posts)Makes it less likely in the future. I doubt we will hear anything when the 4th or 5th NFL player are known to be gay.
